Nordland-Spifflandia

Nordland-Spifflandia, also known as "(The) Nordlands" and "North Spifflandia", is a large overseas province of Spifflandia, unique in the fact that it is many times larger than Spifflandia itself. Its history as Nordland-Spifflandia is fairly short; in the late 2040s(STS) the nation of Southern Cambria collapsed into complete disarray. The MuDeAl, as was common at the time, brokered arrangements of how the territory would be governed by others. Spifflandia had only recently entered MuDeAl, and many agreed that the country was rapidly becoming too densely populated. Rather than set up a colony in the Colonial Territories, Spifflandia was allowed to govern Southern Cambria, and in part, to colonise it, thusly relieving much of the stress put on Spifflandia's own infrastructure. Within a few short years, the rest of Cambria collapsed, and the territory of the province expanded to a size that made it considerably larger already than Spifflandia. By 2060, after absorbing much of the territories of Sheeplandia, Nordland-Spifflandia is now actually one of the largest single territories in the region.
Its location in a volatile part of the region has had an effect on its short history. Not soon after its formation, Nordland-Spifflandia came close to being the battleground in what would have been a catastrophic war between the neighbouring Unimatrix and MuDeAl nations. Despite a desperate stand off, conflict was averted. Then during the Dominion Wars, roughly half a decade later, the province was the closest territory to the western war that the MuDeAl had - so much so that the war was practically on their doorstep. Despite temporarily housing many tens of thousands of Uudesan refugees, fleeing from fighting in the south of Uudestaan, Spifflandia, much like the rest of MuDeAl, controversially played scarcely any role in the war - a policy that has been vehemently criticised by MuDeAl's growing opponents.
The provincial capital is Neurenberg, which is located at the heart of the Sergei Delta, one of two major river deltas that flow into Flexo Bay in Nordland-Spifflandia - the other being the Desaan Delta. There has been a slowly forming notion of quasi-independence, or, at least, autonomy. This is perhaps best demonstrated by the appearance of a separate soccer team of the Nordland participating in the 2060 PEEL Cup.
