The Northeastern Independence Party, now referred to as Margherian Freedom and Solidarity (NEIP-MFS) is a minor separatist political party in the Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia. The party was created in 2003 with the demise of the terrorist organisation Gruppo Liberacione di Norte Pacitalia (GLNP). Separatists in Margheria province that were disenchanted with the failures of violence to get their point across turned to peaceful political means and created the party in the fall of that year. However, to avoid confusion they publicly distanced themselves from the GLNP and renounced the group's actions. They did not run in the 2004 federal election but did in the 2005 provincial election in Margheria, capturing 22.8% of the popular vote and 19 of the province's 111 seats. They will run in the 2006 federal election and it is widely expected the NEIP will elect at least one member to the federal legislature.
