The Democratic States of Norvich is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 412 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.
The People of Norvich take pride in the roots of thier nation and in the many freedoms of the land, especially artistic freedom. Thus, a large movie and drama center was founed in Kiescow, with a popular slang name of the city being "Norviwood".
HISTORY
Norvich was discovered after a group of peasants, fleeing civil war, attempted to immigrate to the United States in 1917, including a entire cossack village. The refugees made it to the steamboat, but the ship was sucked into a whirlpool, and wrecked on a uncharted land. Everyone died except the cossacks and a Yiddish village, who where met by attrative young native girls from the tribe known as the Norvi. Soon , germs and children assilimated the Norvi, but the new citizens, after deciding they would not be rescuded in 1920, took the name Norvich for thier New Nation, and created the first town hall of Port Nor. The one room brick house still stands as the shop of the Nor Military academy's Smithy. In 1922, a ship hailing from President Dave landed in the new nation, and even after a barrage of cannon fire was exchanged, the exploration party was quickly let in and beer was to be had. Today, after, 3 foriegn wars, and continuing barbarian wars on the Eastern border, Norvich has joined the ranks of superpowers.
MILITARY
Having hailed from the cossacks, Norvich troops have a very unusual but effective way of tatics, often described was a cross between blitzinkrieg and gruella warfare. The Cossack Commando division, the elite of all Norvich warfare, are skilled with the ability to fight from any vehicle, and specialize in motorcyles. A Cossack can assemble a motorcycle in under five seconds, anmd fight his way through an enemy occupied checkpoint with no problem.
The army has also been accreditied with grueling training, the most advanced weapons, and is one of the last to use rapiers in battle, and to a great effect.
