Nova Berlin in West Deutschland
Nova Berlin is the capital city of West Deutschland (Population (2002 est): 310 930), in the Bundesland of North Rhine-Westphalia, located ca. 20 kilometres south of Cologne on the river Rhine. It was renamed from Bonn to Nova Berlin following the military coup of January 9 2005, wich created the People's Republic of West Deutschland. The name Nova Berlin was chosen as a memorial to West Berlin, the capital of the former German Democratic Republic. Bonn was also the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1949 to 1990.
The history of the city dates back to Roman Empire times. About 10 BC the Romans constructed a bridge across the Rhine close to a place called "Bonna".
