Novus Blitzville. Is located midway along the Eastern Coast of Nova Avatarium, opposite a small archipelago called the Thunder Isles, it is the federal capital.

The city has an area of 277.0 km² (106.9 mi²). 159.0 km² (61.4 mi²) of it is land and 18.0 km² (6.9 mi²) of it is water and a population of approximately 10 million, which makes it the largest city in Nova Avatarium.

Highlights

Novus Blitzville is a major business centre. The city has a multicultural metropolitan area, which some have compared to other capitals on the main PEEL continent. Novus Blitzville is known for its varied and sophisticated cuisine, from fast food chains to five star restaurants. Its night life is animated by thousands of bars, pubs, lounges and discos that cater for a variety of music tastes and are often open all night.

Novus Blitzville is home to Nova Avatarium Central University, to the major art college (the Founders Sacred Art College), a major symphonic orchestra (NASOS) and is in the process of building a major Summer and Winter sporting complex to rival the best PEEL has to offer . There are two major airports in the Novus Blitzville metropolitan area: Stuart International (for domestic and international flights) and Kroes I (for domestic flights).

History

The city was founded on January 25, 2027, by Gordon LeVar, who established a small trading post and named it in honour of Avatarium's capital, Blitzville. Located just beyond the Krirk Forest and overlooking an archipelago of islands, the new settlement became the natural entrance to the vast and fertile plateau that would eventually become the Novus Blitzville District.

Novus Blitzville became officially a city in 2038. With the increasing industrial development of the country, many of the population moved to Novus Blitzville, this also attracted new contingents of immigrants from other areas of the PEEL region.

Another important historical landmark is the Nova Avatarium Central University, claimed to be (though it is not true) the first academic institution in Nova Avatarium.

Economics

Novus Blitzville is the financial and industrial centre of Nova Avatarium.

Its financial districts are located on the surroundings of Enterprise Avenue and in the Old Downtown. Other important business districts are located near Forrestal Avenue and the Amyrocks neighbourhood.

There are a number of highly specialised regions, like Omicron (wholesale garment districts), Futuretech (lazer technology and manufacturing equipment), Dilythiumville (electrical and electronic parts), Cosy Corner (furniture and musical equipment), the posh Uptown Boulevard (designer and label stores) and the crowded Central Avenue. Novus Blitzville is also home to a large number of advertising and broadcasting companies, including Tele-News.

Culture

Electrotarium

The Festival of Electronic Arts

Every two years, the Festival brings groundbreaking work by cream-of-the-crop artists from all over the country to Novus Blitzville. In keeping with the constant transformations in media and support, the curatorship has added installations, performances, VJs, CD-ROM art, DVD-ROM art, LazDisc art and internet art to the programme. The Festival includes a competitive exhibition of art shows. Meetings introduce new ideas and art work, setting new guidelines for contemporary art in Nova Avatarium. Exhibitions featuring work by prominent electronic artists are also part of the Festival. Each festival has a theme of its own.

Culture Festival Of Novus Blitzville

The Culture Festival is a cultural event hosted every two years. Close to 1 million people visited the 36th Culture Festival in 2054. Its theme was chosen to enable a wide range of artistic positions to feel comfortable. It had a physical-geographical, a socio-political as well as an aesthetic dimension - the latter, of course, being of greatest interest in the context of this exhibition. In order to emphasize the thematic unity of the overall exhibition, the invited artists and those representing the countries invited are mixed together on the 25,000 square meters of the spacious Kevin Poacher Pavilion.

Donner Und Blitzen Race

The Donner Und Blitzen Race takes place every Christmas Eve (24 December). It was first held in 2033, when the competitors ran about 8km (5 miles) around the streets, dressed as weather icons and reindeer. Since then, the distance raced has varied, and it is now fixed at 23km (14.3 miles). Registration takes place from 1 October, with the maximum number of entrants limited to 15,000.

Transportation

Novus Blitzville has two airports. Kroes I operates domestic and regional flights mainly to Bullfrog City, Port Andreas and Agnea. : Stuart International Airport, located 25 km northeast from downtown, operates domestic and international flights to the city.

The city has approximately 60 km of subway system (the Novus Blitzville Metro, locally known as the NBM. The subway lines carry some 3.5 million people on an average weekday, and a few new underground lines to be constructed are expected to add another million people to the system within the next five years.

The bulk of the public transportation (public and private companies) is composed by more than 10,000 buses.

Novus Blitzville grew quickly and buildings were constructed without major planning. As a result, heavy traffic is common in the main avenues of the city, and traffic jams are relatively common in its larger highways (mainly during floods). The main mean of commuting into the city is by car and by bus.
