Nuevo Italia
Nuevo Italia, or the Imperial Democracy of Nuevo Italia, is a nation in northern Mediterranica. The nation is highly influenced by the culture and beliefs of Roman Catholicism and Italy. The empire holds many provinces and territories overseas (but mostly in Mediterranica), justifying its title. It has a very stable economy and government. To the south lies Yallak, Razgalth, and Aliquantus. The economy is dominated by Manufacturing (particularly arms, cars, and technology), along with the export of the nations many natural recources.
Government
Nuevo Italia is a functioning multiparty democracy. It is also a constitutional monarchy, with the Imperatore (Emperor) having some constitutional powers, such as: controlling 5% of the vote in the Imperial Senate, acting as an emergency leader, and announcing major descisions. Apart from this he is a figurehead.
System
Nuevo Italia has it's own governmental system, know as Nuevan Democracy. It is comparable to Whyatica in some aspects.
- A petition is passed up to the Imperial Senate with the signature of 250 citizens (minimum). The Imperial Senate passes legislature with a 55% majority. The Prime Minister may veto the bill, but it may become law with a 75% majority.
- Each of the 100 states has one represntative, elected every fourth year. The Prime Minister is also ecelted every fourth year, but there is a two year gap between the elections of the different positions.
- A senator or Prime Minister may serve a maximum of 3 four year terms.
Judicial Branch
Each local community has its own court (Justice appointed by Mayor), as law suits escalate it moves up to county court (Justices appointed by Mayor of largest local town), which moves up to state (Justices appointed by Imperial Governor) and finally to Supreme Imperial Court (All 8 Justices appointed by Senate). The Judicial System decides if things are with the Nuevan Constitution, and settles law suits, etc.
Culture
Culture in the Empire is based (mainly) on the culture of Italy.

As of the latest census, the following is the dissection of religion in the nation: Roman Catholic 69%, Protestant 15%, Judaism 7%, Atheist/Agnostic 8%, Other 1%
