General

The Large Booming Kingdom of Old Ogastein is a massive, safe nation, remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its quiet, industrious population of 2.145 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as the Environment and Public Transport receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Gambling and Door-to-door Insurance Sales.

The great horned owl is protected from hunting and slowly coming back from the brink of extinction, voters must frequently select what they view as the lesser of two evils on the ballot, citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, and sex offenders find themselves 'cut off' from any ability to repeat their crimes. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Old Ogastein's national animal is the great horned owl, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the opal.

Old Ogastein is also a UN member receiveing 23 endorsements.

On Oct. 18 2006 Old Ogastein adopted a 2nd offical language, German.

On Dec. 22nd 2006 Old Ogastein's 2nd offical language, German was swapped with French. While the English became more precise and became Canadian English.
