Orgybotism or the Cult of the Orgybot is the philosophical and spiritual code of the native population of The Actually Existing Socialism of Orgybot. The tradition is over 2000 years old and survived a period of brutal repression during the occupation and colonisation of the island by Celdonia.

Beliefs & Practice

Principally a philosophy, though there are those who argue that it has religious connotations, action through inaction, receptiveness, spontaneity, the strength of softness and the relativism of human values are some of its preferred themes. Elements of Orgbotist thought focus on the cyclic progression of seasons, growth and death of sentient beings and the connectedness of being, all life having evolved from some form of sunlight. Teachings include the rejection of all forms of oppression toward human beings, cruelty against animals and unnecessary sacrifice of animals. Equality of all humans regardless of race or religion and respect of all forms of life on Spaceship Earth and the Omniverse is core to the philosophy.

Symbols

The most important symbol of Orgybotism is sunlight. The energy of the creator is represented in Orgybotism by the sun which is enduring, radiant, pure and life sustaining. Adherents usually meditate in front of some form of fire (or any source of light) and the most important parts of the day are sunsight and sunclipse.

Nature is also central to the practice of Orgybotism and many important annual festivals are in celebration of nature: new year on the first day of spring, the water festival in summer, the autumn festival at the end of the season, and the mid-winter fire festival.

Death & Burial

Rituals related to death are concerned with the essence (mind and soul) and not the body. In Orgybotism the body is understood as a physical interpretation or representation of the sunlight transmitted by the Omniverse and must be returned in order to continue the circularlity of life/death. Traditionally, Orgybotians disposed of their dead by leaving them atop open-topped enclosures, called Towers of Tranquility. Vultures and the weather would clean the flesh of the bones. Cremation is now the preferred choice of most everyday Orgybotians although Temple Masters continue the tradition of excarnation.

Temples

Most of the Temples were destroyed during the Celdonian occupation of the island and as such there remain undiscovered and hidden sanctuaries throughout the island where historically everyday practice continued. There are two major existing temples on the island constructed by the adherents, the most important of which is situated near the Geodesic Dome city of Palach on the western coast (uniquely positioned for the optimum view of the sunclipse). The Temples are unique on Orgybot as they are the only fully existing stone structures on the island.

Elders superintend the Temples and are receptive and welcoming to all visitors. Practitioner and non-Practitioner alike, and are willing to discuss openly all aspects of Orgybotism though the Elders are also renowned for their vague and seemingly unrelated wisdom.

Both Temples are also staffed by the famous Orgybotian Ninjas, who practice absolute adherence to the philosophy of Orgybotism and are sworn to protect all artifacts and the integrity of the Temples themselves. Unlike, the Temple Elders, the Orgybotian Ninjas are entirely reticent and are generally not observed by visitors to the Temple save on ceremonial occasions.

The Temples are also remarkable for the predominance of Anarcho-Cats who chose to make the locale their home.

Mantras

"Lob ist zum Orgybot" is the most common mantra associated with the philosophy and though not entirely accurate, translations approximate thus: "All praise be to the Orgybot".

Another phrase that has some supposed connection with the tradition is the phrase: "Even in life we are in death", though owing to the plunder of the Temples during the occupation and their destruction, the Temple Elders are still at pains to research the exact origin.

Similarly, another recent excavation revealed a teaching that proclaimed: "Whatever the thinker thinks, the prover proves."
