Pakasa is the National Sport of Swilatia

Rules of the game

Pakasa is a team sport in which the object is to knock over all your opposing teams 12 targets. This is done with a ball, that can be hit by any part of the body, but cannot be grabbed by anybody besides the guardians (The players who protect the targets). If the game, which is 100 minutes long, ends before any team has knocked down 12 targets, the team that has knocked down more wins. In the event of a draw, the team that has knocked down the their last target in the match first is the winner.

History

The sport goes back to ancient times, when it was used to settle the smaller disputes beetween the many nomadic tribes that existed in the area which is now Swilatia. However once Swilatia became a united nation, the matches stopped having political importance, and soon stopped. However the sport was brought back in 1899, and the National Pakasa Championships were started to give the sport some purpose. In 1940 it was declared the national sport of Swilatia because of its ties to ancient Swilatian history.
