Palentine UN Office was created by the imperial fiat of Emperor Captain Spaulding I of The Palentine. Concerned that his mighty Evil Conservative Empire would be reduced to the level of granola-munching luddites after the Fossil Fuel Reduction Act, the emperor in his wisdom left the UN. However, he still felt the UN badly needed the Militaristic Machismo that his ambassador Senator Horatio Sulla naturally exudes (not to mention the bad taste left in the mouths of some delegates after Sen. Sulla weighs in on an issue). Therefore the emperor partitioned off a parcel of land, established the Dominion of Palentine UN Office (there is plenty of frozen hellish wasteland to go around), and appointed Sulla to officially run the place -- though in practice the Empire still calls the shots by using the same civil servants.
Palentine UN Office was declared the regional delegate of Antarctic Oasis in December 2005, since then relinquishing the title to Gruenberg.
