This party is one of the three first parties in Oliverrian history. Created in 1901, after the first election, it played an important role in the Oliverrian history. After many modifications, it took the name of Neo-Democratic Party of Oliverry and its main ideology is to reform democracy in the nation while having Socialist/Ecologic trends sometimes. This party is currently leading the Chamber of Parliament, even though it's a minority government. It presently holds 180 seats out of 400.

Party's history

Consitutional Monarchy era

The party first started in 1901 when some deputies understood they had similarities of views about ideas. They then decided to form the first political party of Oliverry, the Democratic Party. They never lead a government during this time, the Conservatives monopolizing the lead. In 1927, a new leader comes to the head of the party, Johann Lischwinsberg. His charism made that the Democrats got elected to the parliament in 1929. When the king died without any children, his succession act had Johann Lischwinsberg as heir of the power. As he was faithful to democracy, he founded the Republic of Oliverry.

1931-1960 era

The Democratics lead the two first governments: from 1932 to 1940. After, Johann Lischwinsberg retired from politics and the party looked like it didn't have leadership. In 1956, the party was elected as the official opposition at the parliament. It was the last time the party lead the opposition or the government until 20 years.

1960-2000 era

In 1958, a faction of the party, the Anti-French, separates from the party to form the English Party. It got elected in 1960, where it took anti-french laws and such. It has been defeated easily in 1964. From 1964 to 1980, the party stayed in the back of Oliverrian politics, winning 3 or 4 seats each election. In 1980, a new party candidate to presidency, Bill Lether, is elected by the convention. The person is very charismatic, is near the people and wants to help them. To summarize, he's a neo-democrat before the time. He got elected easily. But, when he died in 1984, 2 weeks before the elections, the nation cried the loss of a man. This changed the electoral campaign's order. The elections got pushed back a month to permit people to live their mourning and the party to find another candidate. As they weren't able to find one, they didn't run for presidency in 1984. After this, the Democratic Party came out stronger and, in the 90's, it's the official opposition to the Green-Marijuana Alliance.

The Empire nearly killed the Democratic Party. In 2007, the party still has problems, getting only 4 seats. In 2011, 38 seats are won at the Oliverrian Parliament, but they lead the Limbrogidlian parliament.

He told the party that he was going to take a new way. The party decided to change its name to "Neo-democratic Party". This proved to be helpful since they got elected in 2013, leading the parliament with 180 seats out of 400.
