Pastantinople was built on the decaying ruins of Vienna, the former capital of the collapsed Austro-Hungarian Empire.

During the revolution, it was the major hotbed of revolutionary activity against the ruling tyrant, Emperor Mktaisan. In the final weeks of the revolution, it became the location of the Emperor's last stand against the Communist army, led by Comandante Nasty Pasty, Sub-Comandante Whoopwhoopwhoop, and Marshal Matthew Gregory. After days of fighting, the Emperor fled the city and the People's Republic of Pastocia was established with Vienna(now named Pastantinople) as it's capital. Delighted with the victory over the oppressive tyrant, the city's population united to rebuild their beloved city into a thriving metropolis.

At a quick glance, the city which is bordered on two sides by rivers looks like it's right out of a Middle Ages history book, and the city's leaders strive to keep it that way: a bustling metropolis but still retaining a quaint feel of small town life. The inner city is a haven for the artistic minds of the country, with dozens of theaters and parks from which showcase their talent. The new Socialist government led by First Consul Pasty decided to preserve the classical look of the city as much as possible. An ancient law was put back into place, stating that "no building shall rise above the tallest spire of the Archangel Church". Many new buildings being constructed in the city, and across the Viennese Bundeslaender have been redesigned to resemble the old-style of archetecture.

The city itself is beginning to show the fruits of the people's labor. With the new government came some of the finest schools, hospitals, and public facilities in PEEL, all free to every Pastocian citizen. The newly-founded Pastantinople University is becoming one of the most respected schools in the region of PEEL, and with students coming from as far away as Nurdbotia and New Cyberia, it is expanding every year. The city is adorned with dozens of parks and public spaces, providing a very beautiful, classical, and quaint feel to this growing metropolis.

All the homes in the city are owned and leased to the citizens by the Federal Government, and even when constructing new buildings, it is required to keep with the old theme of the city, at least to the exterior. Once inside, the homes are both functional and Aesthetically pleasing. With the ease of constructioning large numbers of living buildings in such a short time, there is never a shortage of housing in the city or around the country.

Pastantinople also offers numerous exciting activities for the thousands of citizens and tourists who will live and visit Pastocia. The city has many wonderful locations to visit, from historical landmarks, museums, and resteraunts from which to sample Pastocia's culture and cuisine. Ferries also run down the length of the city in the river, providing passengers with a perfect view of the city and the surrounding landscape. And for those who crave something a bit more exciting, there is a high-speed rail line which will take you from Pastantinople to downtown Lecapeni in northern Pastocia in less than 20 minutes. From there, one can experience the rich nightlife, clubs, and casinos which Pastocia's largest and most modern city offers.

But in the year 2053, all this was almost destroyed during the Dominion Wars. Early in the year, Pastocia was invaded by the Obsidian Order and Terre Argente and both armies came to the outskirts of Pastantinople where the Imperial Pastocian Army made it's final stand. After weeks of bloody fighting, the seige was finally broken and the IPA forces managed to push back the invading armies and save the city. During the seige, over 175 Million Bodegias in damages, mostly to the larger buildings such as the Old Archangel Cathedral and the Imperial Senate Chamber. But once again, the citizens came together, and within months the city had been restored to it's pre-war glory.

This post-war boom was magnified when Pastantinople was chosen to host the 2056 PEELympic Games, the first time the region-wide sporting event was held in a communist nation.

The city is the Capital of the People's Socialist Republic of Pastocia and is the seat of power for the Pastocian Communist Party, led by the Imperial Senate and Fourth Consul Katherine Minos.
