Persian (Persian : فارسي ), (Arabic : فارسي), (Parthian Rendering: Farsī) is the official language in most of the nations listed here. There are Persian minorities in the USA, EU, Russia and the Arab League. Persian is a language that has been spoken for thousands of years, and is the holy language of the Ancient Persian religion of Zoroastrianism.

In NationStates, Persian is the main language of Wadj, a nation occupying part of real-life Iran and Egypt.

In Parthia, Persian is the official language of the Parthian state as a whole (though languages like Kurdish and Tajik are official in some areas where they are spoken by the majority of the population). Parthian Farsi is somewhat different from regular Farsi due to the lack of Arabic words in the vocabulary, and the use of three different scripts. The most commonly used script in modern Parthia is a latin-based script introduced by Shah Ardeshir XI to simplify writing the language, it is understood by all literate people in Parthia. The second, is based off Arabic script, has fallen into disuse. The third script, by far the oldest, called Pazend and based off the Avestan script, is understood by few besides aristocrats, Zoroastrian clergymen, and well-educated individuals. It is often used by the Shah in messages to nobles, and in formal documents sent between noblemen. It is by far the most complex of the three forms of rendering, making great use of ideograms (words spelled one way read in a completely different way, for example, the "symbol" for king is rendered in Pazend as 'malka', but is representative of and spoken as 'shah'), and often is written without vowels as well. Literacy in Pazend is considered extremely respectable in Parthia and a mark of civilized upbringing.
