Peter Marcus Phillip Coakson (born November 9, 1950) is Kelssek's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Colwyn Bay.

Education

Born in Neorvins, Peter Coakson grew up 200 kilometers west of the capital in the city of Beaujoire and attended the University of Burnaby, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He pursued his graduate studies at Victoria University of Neorvins, attaining a Masters in International Relations. He entered the civil service and was posted as a political attache to several embassies throughout the world.

Political career

In 2000, Coakson was appointed Kelssek's ambassador to the United Nations. He resigned this post in 2004 on the advice of Green Party leader Alan Kerk to run for the House of Commons and easily won his seat in Colwyn Bay as the Green Party secured a majority and Alan Kerk became Prime Minister; and Kerk appointed him Minister of Foreign Affairs when he named his cabinet on September 27. He has since gained a large international profile with the numerous official trips he has made abroad and is widely regarded as a future party leader and Prime Minister.

Foreign policy

Under Coakson, Kelssek's foreign policy has become strongly pacifist. He has publicly stated that he believes in peacekeeping. Coakson played a role in organising the peace talks which ended the Krechzianko-Vladistock war and he has also made great efforts to expand Kelssek's diplomatic relations more globally, beyond the East Pacific. However, under Coakson Kelssek has also served several positions in Rillanon, twice holding the position of Consul in the regional legislature the Magisteral Assembly.

One controversial aspect of Coakson has been his willingness to be outspoken on issues such as human rights abuses and wars, something which many critics say undermines attempts at peacekeeping and arbitrating conflicts. A trend to support leftist governments, such as that of Ariddia, is also regarded as having painted Kelssek as a nation firmly in the left-wing, anti-capitalist camp, although it can be said that most voters are happy to have it that way.
