Philipp II of Alessandri
|
His Majesty King Philipp II of Alessandri (Philipp Kristofor Karl Joachim), (21 January, 1857 – ) is the current king of Alessandri.
Birth
Philipp was born on January 21, 1857 in Naundheim, Darmstadt as Philipp Kristofor Karl Joachim Uyiary, the son of Wilhelm Uyiary and Princess Viktoria, daughter of King Leopold VII. He was named after King Philipp I, who, although infamous for a series of murders, was beloved by many of his people. Philipp was later joined by two younger brothers, Eitel and Wolfgang in 1855 and 1858 respectively.
When Philipp was seventeen, he and his two younger brothers were designated as Princes of the Royal Blood and rechristened with the last name von Otamann-Anhalt by their uncle, King Adalbert VIII, when the king failed to produce any legitimate children.
Marriage & Children
The King married Lady Elisabeth ("Sissi") Bauer. The couple had six children:
- HRH Princess Sophie Elisabeth Irmingard Adele Dagmar Marie of Altec, born June 23, 1882, died May 28, 1892 of diphtheria.
- HRH Princess Gabriella Charlotte of Altec, stillborn on May 2, 1885.
- HRH Prince Adalbert Johann Wolfgang Philipp of Altec, stillborn on June 23, 1889.
- HRH Prince Rupprecht Wilhelm Leopold Philipp Ernst Ludwig Alexander of Altec, born December 14, 1891.
- HRH Prince Nikolaus Carl Johann Eitel Joachim Ludwig Georg of Altec, born April 25, 1895.
- HRH Prince Theodor Wilhelm Rudolf Christian August Andreas Friedrich of Altec, born March 31, 1898, died May 10, 1902 of meningitis.
Grandchildren
King Philipp has seven grandchildren, three boys and four girls.
Their Royal Highnesses Prince Emmanuel of Iksander, Prince Georg of Iksander and Princess Arabella of Iksander are the children of Philipp's eldest son and heir to the throne, Prince Rupprecht, Duke of Iksander. Their Highnesses Princesses Marie Elise of Paley, Marie Christine of Paley, and Marie Alexandra of Paley, and their younger brother, His Royal Highness Prince Carl Eugen of Paley, are the children of His Royal Highness Prince Nikolaus, Duke of Paley. The three Paley princesses are not styled Royal Highness because, as females, they hold no place in the line of the succession. The Theodorian Law states that only the children of the reigning monarch, sons and daughters of the Crown Prince, and male-line grandsons of the reigning monarch in the line of succession are styled Their Royal Highness. Thus, the Paley girls, as females and daughters of a younger son, are thus not styled Royal Highnesses, while their cousin, Princess Arabella, as daughter of the Crown Prince, is styled thus.
