Dominated by the warm-temperate rainforest clad Mount Pinnak, the town of Pinnak is faced with a typical 21st century dilemma. Under the rainforest lies a significant uranium deposit. Warm-temperate rainforest is unusual in Errinundera. It exists only along the Bemm River and in isolated pockets in the Brodribb region such as here.
Should the townsfolk mine the uranium and damage the forest, as has happened in Bola Mine with its gold deposits? To date the Pinnaks have resisted the temptation.
Pinnak is the first large Errinundrian town for visitors travelling from the south on the Trans-National Rail. As a result it is a prosperous trading centre.
