The politics of Praetoria Novus take place within the framework of democracy. The government of Praetoria Novus is a constitutional republic, and Praetoria Novians elect state legislatures as well as the national level mono-cameral Republican Parliament of Praetoria Novus. The Repbulican Parliament operates according to the Westminster System of government, in that its members of the executive are drawn from, and are thus accountable to. the elected Senate.
At the national level, elections are held at least once every four years. The Prime Minister can advise the President to call an election for the Republican Senate at any time after three and a half years of his term have elapsed. The last general election was in October 2005.

The following are the Prime Ministers who have led the Republican Senate since the new Constitution was adopted in September 2005:
