Overview

Polok is a nation based on the principles of the collective society, in which the people are put first and foremost. This system has allowed Polok to bring itself out of the turmoil which engrossed the nation after the 7th war, which, at its end, saw the integration of the four major clans into one nation and the establishment of the nexus. Presently Polok functions under a full parliamentary democracy, which allows the people of Polok full control over how their country is run. Civil liberties are bountiful in Polok and all facets of the media are freely run. The highly advanced education system has made Polok the richest and most technologically advanced nation in the Imperium; this scientific advancement has prompted various ethical debates in parliament and society over technolgy's role in people's lives and how it should be used to help other nations. The increasing usage by the Polokian military of robotic drones in warfare has recently been the subject of controversy, with the announcement that over a third of front-line operations are now carried out exclusively by battle drones.

Economy

The economy of Polok has gone from strength to strength since the establishment of the nexus. Polok currently has the largest GDP in the Imperium by a substantial lead. The collective society guarantees the common worker as many rights as the executive. In Polok business is still just as potent as in a capitalist economy, but with a few major differences. Usually in business-orientated nations businesses are huge companies run by few people who pay themselves massive bonus' and can relatively do what ever they like. In Polok businesses are still quite large but they have less power, instead more power is delegated to the worker. Anti-monopoly laws prevent one company from dominating the market, encouraging competition and thus lower prices and higher standards. Companies must meet strict quotas and are run indirectly by the workers themselves. Every employee owns an equal share of their company, despite their hierarchal position. Thus the common worker has a say in how the company is run and is treated as an equal, instead of an expendable tool. There is a certain degree of regulation on salaries in Polok. In most cases one would notice no difference from wages in a capitalist economy; the difference comes when one gets to the extreme wages of the big businessmen. They still earn money relative to the work they must do and if it requires any advanced knowledge, they can not earn extortionate amounts of money which are completely inproportionate to the work they do, as is the case in more capitalist countries. Of course in a free-market there will still be variations in earnings even if workers practice in similar conditions. In some cases, such as the IT industry, companies have grown quite large, but due to our economic policies Polok has developed a system whereby business flourishes with out having fat-cats and disproportionate representation in companies.

People

Generally the people of Polok are optimistic and forward-thinking. Most believe in the principals of the Collective Society, but those who don't are free to expess their opinions. The people of Polok are well-educated due to the enormous education budget, and this fact is partly the cause of Polok's large economy. Most Polokian people are also well-off, due to the large economy and small rich-poor divide.
