Polytheism

Polytheism is a type of religious philosophy that espouses the existence of many gods. A polytheistic religion is not required to worship all of the gods it recognizes, nor are the individual adherents of a polytheistic religion always required to follow all of the gods within the religion's pantheon. The primary qualification is that the religion allows for the existence of more than one god. This often, but does not always, lead to a syncretic approach, but it happens frequently when one polytheistic religion's adherents live near and trade with another's.
