Progressive Communism is the ideology espoused by the political leaders of Greater DCU. Originally formulated by the revolutionary hero Alexandre Vinokourov Progressive Communism is an offshoot of Marxism. Its primary differentiating characteristics are the cementing of democratic processes in socialist ideology and the insistence that a truly communist society can only be achieved after a lengthy adjustment period of socialism where human nature itself is altered and all aspects of society are advanced. Today there is a constant "creeping" growth towards a position where the state may be abolished. This progress is observed by the Revolutionary Council who report on the pace of reforms and the state of the nation.

While a "living doctrine" that is constantly undergoing revisions and updates, the core philosophy has formed the basis of Greater DCU’s society since its formation after the Revolution and shows no sign of being discarded at any point in the future, at least not until a true Communist state may be established.

The later doctrine of European Socialism, as introduced by General Secretary Eamonn McDaragh, is not intended as a replacement for Progressive Communism. Instead it places limits as to how far the socialist state may progress on its own.

The phrase can also be used, within Greater DCU to indicate that a nation has left (or is at least well advanced into) the socialist stage of society’s evolution but is not yet ready to embrace Communism.
