The flag of Qiru is based on a traditional Qiri design, named geakootutesoanopinma (lit. blood-and-cloud cloth). It was originally used as a pattern of priests' clothes, but was later adopted as the flag of the Qiri people.

It replaced an older, Baranxtuan-imposed flag design in 1906 and has been used ever since.
