The 'Quaestor was originally an ancient Roman official, however, some nations who folow a Roman/Latin theme use the title Quaestor in their governments.


The Meritocracy

In The Meritocracy, the Quaestor is responsible for the foreign affairs of the Meritocracy. The Quaestor is the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has two sub-Ministries, the Meritocratic Intelligence Agency and the Foreign Diplomatic Corps.

History

The Quaestor position was created in June of 2003, under the Cabinet Reorganization Act, proposed by Thomasia; however, different times have had the Quaestor with different powers and duties. The Quaestor position was not one of the original cabinet positions under the first Charter, proposed by Marcus Isles; however, it has grown into one of the more powerful cabinet positions today. Before the modern Ministry system, the Meritocracy ran via a Committee system. The Intelligence Cmte. and State Cmte., which are now encompassed under the modern Quaestor's Ministry, were seperate committees, run by seperate people; however, the title Quaestor first began being used in reference to the person charing the Intelligence Cmte., which came to be know as the Meritocratic Intelligence Agency.

Starblaydia

In the Protectorate of Starblaydia, the Quaestor is one of the highest-ranking intelligence officials in the Inquisition. They command their own, specialist, teams of Inquisitors and agents and their departments are given the most important and dangerous assignments, crucial to the security and intelligence of the Protectorate.

The head of the Starblaydi Inquisition is always a Quaestor, the current Chief Quaestor being Lady Viannor

New Jerusalem, Pantocratoria

In the Exarchate of New Jerusalem in Pantocratoria, the Quaestor is essentially an Attorney-General in the provincial government, responsible for drafting legislation and the legal representation of the Exarch of New Jerusalem and the provincial government as a whole. The current Quaestor of New Jerusalem is Petros Jihep. The title is rendered Κοιαίστωρ in Greek, the official language of the New Jerusalem Council of Ministers.
