The Queen Šrapin University Siraŋe (Nid. Duhan Šrapin Gebanahuŋar Sraŋana, French Université Reine Jirapine) is the the oldest university of Siraŋe and also among the most renowned ones of Baranxtu. The university largely focuses on religious and philosophical sciences.
Courses are mainly taught in Nidajii and French, and it is one of the few Baranxtuan universities where knowledge of Latin and Ancient Greek is vital.
The Queen Šrapin University Siraŋe employs about 250 professors teaching about 22,000 students.
History
The Queen Šrapin University Siraŋe was founded on royal order by King Baŋani of Sraŋana in 1778, in honor of his late mother, Queen Šrapin. A for the time vast area was chosen on which the university should be built, until then, classes were to be already held in various other buildings scattered across town.
The university was still being built when Baranxtu conquered the country two years later. The newly installed King Ŋeli ordered the constructions to be halted and shut down all classes, and it was not until his son followed him on the throne as King Asesi three years later that the official buildings for the university could be finished; however, he renamed it King Ŋeli Philosophical Higher School.
The main parts of the university were finished in 1789, and the official opening ceremony was held on September 24, 1790.
When Queen Ana came to power in 1802, she granted significant support to the university, and in this time, it quickly grew to be one of the most important universities of the time. In 1814, when the oppressive Ŋurυa-Ahadυa regime in Baranxtu was overthrown, she renamed the university Queen Šrapin University Siraŋe.
Another main incision in the history of the university occured in 1902. In that year, most faculties moved to the Queen Ana University Siraŋe, and the Queen Šrapin University Siraŋe became purely focused on religious and philosophical studies.
