Quick Facts On Bostopian Law

This page serves as a guide to foreigners coming to Bostopia, in order to fill them in with the most important laws in Bostopia, so that their trip may be as pleasureable as possible, without any "run-ins with the law." Remember, the law will win in Bostopia if the case against you can be proven.

Laws are provided by the statute that made them law. If no law is stated, it set out in common (or case) law, or is general tradition.

Firearms

• Following compulsory military service, all persons in Bostopia who are free of a criminal past are legally permitted to carry a gun (this right can however be taken away at any time) with their license available for viewing at all times (Firearms (Permittance of) Act (1871), and keep a gun in their homes. If you break into a house, you are likely to get shot. The law will not be on your side.

General Laws

• Nudity is allowed anywhere in Bostopia unless otherwise stated.
• Nudity is mandatory in Fenton State - Fenton State (Creation of) Act (2005)
• The driving age is 16, but people have to pass health tests - for eyesight & etc, a driving test, and have a fully paid insurance premium in order to be given a full license - Driving Licenses Act (1953)

Health

• The drinking age is 18. - Alcohol Supply and Consumption Act (1949)
• Smoking in public places is banned, except for smoke-houses and smoke-rooms - Public Smoking Act (1939)
• Cigarettes containing chemicals are banned, and will be took off you upon entering Bostopia if you have any. Citizens aged at least 18 do however recieve a tobacco ration at the start of every year. This can be exchanged for cigars, or rolling tobacco and paper. - Tobacco Rationing Act (1939), Cigarettes Act (1939)
• All drugs not being used for medicinal purposes are illegal in Bostopia, expect Marijuana (see below). Those being used for medicinal purposes must be accompanied by a valid doctor's note. Persons carrying drugs into Bostopia will be denied entry unless they can prove medicinal purpose. The selling of drugs can lead to life sentences, deportion or both. - Misuse of Drugs Act (1939)
• The possession, growing, or use of Marijuana for personal purposes is legal. Passing a 'spliff' around between friends is not deemed as supplying, though the handing over of large quantities of Marijuana is deemed as supply, and is illegal. - Misuse of Drugs Act (Amendment) (1964)

Stadia Law

• It is illegal to bring flares into Bostopian stadiums, as they are considered a major health-risk - Stadia Act (1971)
• It is illegal to smoke - Smoking In Public Act (1939)
• It is illegal to drink alcohol in the stands. However, many stadiums have bars in them, be they accessible from outside the ground, or a lobby-area behind the stands. It is legal only to drink in there, and drinks must not be taken into any spectator area - Stadia Act (1971)
• At Motor Racing Circuits, drinking is allowed on the grassy banks behind the fencing where many spectators sit, but it is not allowed in any of the man-made seating areas - Stadia Act (Motor Racing) (1971)
