Reavers are bipedal primates belonging to the mammalian sub-species Homo sapien revaen of the species Homo sapien under the family Hominidae. Reavers have a highly-developed - yet animalistic and primal - mind capable of reasoning and problem-solving, while lacking the abilities of introspection and complex linquistics. While not as-capable as their close-cousins (humans), reavers are able to use some tools. This, in combination with their animalistic and bloodthirsty natures, have caused the reavers to become one of the feared sub-species of the Hominidae family.

Like most primates, reavers are social by nature. However, they lack any written form of communication and tend to live on mob-rule based off the collective urges to feed and propagate. Reavers are particularly adept in fighting and conflict. Yet, due to their lack of complex brain functioning, reavers tend to use basic tools and techniques to subdue enemies. This - in combination with their frightening sexual urges - allows them to subdue an enemy quickly while utilizing their mass-attacks in order to hasten their cause. Reavers have also marked some appreciation for beauty and art; however, this appreciation often involves the decorating of their colonies with the corpses and entrails of their victims and food.

The most frightening aspect of reaver society is the almost exclusivity to cannibalize in order to obtain nutrition and minerals. Reavers tend to attack their enemies and consume their corspes. There are aslo some reports of reavers eating their enemies alive or raping them into incapacitation or even death. Along with this, the reaver sub-species is not a product of natural evolution. The reaver sub-strate is the sum of years of scientific research and experimentation conducted by the Laurasian Olicol Party in order to produce an easily-controlled killing machine.

History

The reaver sub-species was the product of socially scientific experiments conducted in the locked-city known as "City 17" to the outside world. It began as Project: Necrosis in 1978 under the Biological Preparations Directorate under the Soviet Union. The original concept behind the project was the multiplication of muscle-mass in a normal human, the increase of agility in the human species, and to create a more efficient soldier to be released on Soviet enemies. The original path to reach this goal was through genetic engineering and social-stress placed upon political prisoners and prisoners of war within the Soviet Union; however, due to the overall lack of adequate funding and scientific progress, Project: Necrosis received little attention until 1985.

In 1985, Project: Necrosis received renewed attention with the re-awakening of Soviet-European tensions and conflict. With the renewed attention drawn to the project, a set of new paths were also set down. Scientists began using more-advanced gene engineering techniques, began placing large groups under social experimentation and stress, they began placing more stress on the possibility of pre-disposition to violence in test subjects, etc. With these new steps taken to reach the ultimate directive, the Directorate began to advance in their goals. In 1990, the first great milestone was reached.

On October 17, 1990, the Biological Preparations Directorate released ten reaver prototypes on a group of fifty political prisoners. In the amassed time of fifteen minutes, ten reavers dismembered all fifty political prisoners, raped six, and consumed three corpses of the slaughtered group. This was marked as a success by the Soviet administration. The Politburo announced their wish to continue the project and began directing more funding into scientific research concerning genetic manipulation and forced-evolution. The Soviet government hoped that by 2000, the project would be ready for a second testing and possible deployment.

In 2000, the second testing of the reavers was placed into effect. A group of one hundred reavers was released into the slums of City 17. Over a time period spanning two hundred days, 890 cases of murder, 1,450 cases of sexual assault, and just over 300 cases of witnessed cannibalism were recorded. This is the largest-to-date documentation of reaver-based violence involving civilian populations. It would never come to light until after the Soviet Reformation and the enaction of openly-oppressive policies within the nation of Laurasia.

In 2002, reaver colonies were constructed and through the use of normal reproduction and scientific engineering, millions of reavers were born. These colonies are kept under tight lock and key and hidden away by the Laurasian government. Along with this, after the Reformation, the Party began placing reavers on Dystorium prescriptions and under the jackboot of suppression fields in order to control them.

Current Use

As of yet, the Laurasian government has not used their massive stock-pile of reavers against any foreign enemy. However, there are some sparse reports from the few escapees detailing political prisoners being taken from camps and transported to reaver colonies for processing (consumption). Yet, there is no documented proof outside of these reports for the actual use of reavers as bio-physiological weapons.

Physical Description

Reavers are humanoid in appearance and usually have an amalgamation of scarlet-tinted, dark orange, and black flesh. They are usually between five feet, ten inches and six feet, one inch in height upon the completion of their growth cycles. A full-grown reaver usually weights between 130 and 190 pounds. A reaver's physique usually appears muscular or atheletic.

Reaver's are also known to have elongated phalanges and finger-nails. Reports from escaped political prisoners have stated that reaver victims often are town apart or dismembered by reaver "claws." Along with claws, reavers usually have extremely jagged and hardened teeth. These are often used to shred or tear flesh and meat when consuming or fighting.

Reaver eyes are usually a dark brown or black. Blood vessels are generally present around reaver irises and have become a distinctive mark amongst the sub-species.

Habitat and Diet

Reavers are capable of surviving in virtually any environment. Reaver colonies have been constructed in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and even the Laurasian region of Siberia. For this reason, most anthropologists agree that the reaver sub-species has no-specific habitat. The Laurasian government is believed to be currently testing this theory by placing reavers in extreme environments for long-periods of time in order to asses the usefullness of the sub-species in any given environment.

The reaver diet consists almost entirely of protein and the carnivorous basis. As mentioned, reavers are one of the only human sub-species that commit cannibalism on a regular basis. The Peaceful Cooperative of Laurasia has publically reported shipping prisoners to reaver colonies for consumption in order to keep the colonists from consuming one another. It is believed that this fact is being utilized by the entire Olicol movement as psychological warfare against the enemies of their causes.

Behavior

As stated, reavers are social by nature. However, they lack the necessary mental capabilities - or desires - to construct a written language. Through the use of various signals and body language in-step with the collective desires to feed, survive, and propagate, reavers are capable of organizing and attacking their victims. Reavers usually attack en mass and swiftly. Reports show that reavers usually strike either during dusk or at night and strike without warning. They tend to butcher everything and everyone in their path by utilizing whatever tools they can appropriate.

Reavers - due to genetic engineering - have an over-reactive pituitary gland and a relaxed impulse control. For this reason, rape is high amongst reaver populations. The Laurasian government has seeked to utilize this stastical fact by releasing political prisoners into reaver populations in order to study the ability to use this fact as both a physical and psychological weapon.

Reproduction

As mentioned, the amount of rape amongst reaver populations is extremely high. Thus, it serves as a factor in their reproductive process.

During reproduction, reavers usually congregate in large groups in order to have sexual intercourse. The primal instinct of reavers is that, "More mates equals more likelihood of reproduction." For this reason, one or two female reavers can have sexual intercourse with at least three hundred male reavers in one session in an attempt to become impregnated and produce offspring.

Anthropologists have been unable to study the reasons why this mindset has been placed in the mind of the reavers.
