Redswyth is a city in the Kelssekian province of Noua Cymru. A major manufacturing centre, it is located inland in the northeastern part of the province, although transportation of goods to port is relatively easy thanks to an efficient freight train connection to the large Pacific port at North Bay 90km northeast. The city has a population of 3.6 million (2007 est.) and a metropolitan area population of 6,225,873 (2004 census).

The city's economy remains reliant on manufacturing industries. It produces aircraft parts, cars, microchips, and construction equipment. Efforts have been made to focus on higher-value-added products and to increase tertiary industry, although due to its proximity to Kirkenes it is often difficult to attract the financial sector; at the same time Redswyth has succeeded to some degree in building itself as a convention destination and the retail industry is growing quickly. Its relatively blue-collar population also makes it a centre for Kelssek's trade unions, a powerful economic force, and regional offices of the Trades Union Congress are a major employer in the city.

Redswyth was the birthplace of Kieran Pearson, widely regarded as Kelssek's greatest leader.

Education and culture

The main campus of the University of Noua Cymru is located in Redswyth. Redswyth is also home to the Millenium Centre of the Performing Arts, a theatre complex which opened in 2000 and the Noua Cymru Museum of Natural History.

Transportation

Two of Noua Cymru's main highways, 400 and 401, terminate in Redswyth and the Trans Kelssek Highway also runs through the city centre. The city has an extensive bus and mass transit rail system, and is served for inter-city rail by the Kelssek Pacific Railway and KN Rail, which both use the Redswyth Central Station.

Redswyth is served by Kieran Pearson International Airport (YRW), which was used by 21 million passengers in 2006.

Sports

Redswyth has a team in both of Kelssek's main professional sports leagues, Redswyth United in the Kelssek Hockey League and the Redswyth Rebels in the Rugby Superleague. Rivalries usually are strong with teams from Kirkenes.

Sister cities

Redswyth has a city twinning agreement with Nordville (Vilònorda), Brutland and Norden.
