The Reineberg Empire (French: L'Empire de Reineberg, German: Das Reineberg Reich) is a mid-western region consisting of ten seperate nations (seven Republics, and one Grand Duchy, Queendom and Kingdom), mostly known for the "melting pot" effect it has on its citizens and the absolute power of its Emperor. The Reineberg Empire is exceptionally wealthy and known for its high GDP, due in part to the great number of corporations and industries that have found their homes within the Empire. It is also known for being one of the few regions in modern times to include nations run under a Monarchial system of government.
History
Origin
Pre-Formation
In the mid-1770's, the New Clear War broke out between various nations in what once was known as the Region of Prinicipe. Trouble had been brewing for years between The Republic of Bavarak and The Dominion of Heinrichstein, and their leaders Sir Damon Reiner and Sir Blake Wilhelm, respectively. On August 21, 1771, Sir Reiner's Chief Advisor was assassinated by one of Heinrichstein's henchmen, the defining event which sparked the war. Bavarak turned to their neighbours in the south, Kellwood, for military support. On August 25, Bavarak and Kellwood forces entered into Heinrichstein, where they were met by the armies of Heinrichstein, Galrichstein, and Vesichstein. For the next five months, a bloody and destructive war took place in the streets of Heinrichstein. On January 29, 1772, Bavarak and Kellwood were declared the victors of the war, after struggling to defeat the enormous armies of the three allied nations. In total, the number of casualties was approximately 5,300,000. On February 9, 1772, the Treaty of Laise was signed by the leaders of all nations that participated in the war, which in brief stated that the land consisting of Heinrichstein, Galrichstein, and Vesichstein now belonged to Bavarak and Kellwood. The opposing leaders were assassinated, and new governments were installed in these nations. For seven years these nations functioned as seperate entities, until the Reineberg Doctrine was ratified on November 2, 1779.
The Reineberg Doctrine
The document essentially states that the nations of Heinrichstein, Galrichstein, and Vesichstein will lose their independance and together become the nation of Emborch. While the nations of Bavarak and Kellwood will join together to form the nation of Reineberg. Together, these two nations will comprise the founding nations of The Reineberg Empire. The Doctrine also states that Sir Damon Reiner will be appointed undisputed Emperor of The Reineberg Empire, and King of the newly created Kingdom of Reineberg. Sir Livio Ianniccus will become Grand Duke of the Reineberg Empire, and leader of the Grand Duchy of Emborch. The entire Doctrine was written in less than a week, and set into place on the evening of completion. The Doctrine also outlines a new set of human rights, establishes the national language as English and the official currency as the keystone. It is also written that all forms of Religion will be eliminated, making way for the Church of Reineberg as the sole Reiligion. This Doctrine was met with mixed emotions, and in most cases, public dissenters were executed on the spot. The Reineberg Doctrine can be seen on display in the La Chavelle Historic Museum, in the city of Fenrowe, Emborch.
Expansion
Coricove
The 1780's saw a surge in population growth in The Reineberg Empire, with the total population reaching 15 million, in 1783. This recent trend of rapid population growth was great for the economy and for local businesses, and also had long-term benefits for the Reineberg Empirical Military. However, overpopulation was becoming an issue in Emborch, where much of the land was legally protected and preserved from builders. More land would have to be found elsewhere, so Emperor Reiner looked eastward to Lynnette Murphia and her nation of Coricove. Within a few years, Reiner and Murphia had become very close acquaintances, getting married in the summer of 1786. Murphia became Queen and was officially inducted into the Royal Family of Reineberg and the Queendom of Coricove became the newest member of The Reineberg Empire. This would temporarily solve the problem of overpopulation.
The Great Calvino War
The Reineberg Empire had been going through a period of economic recession for the past decade, which only ended because of the breakout of war in 1801. Emperor Reiner had passed away earlier that year, with leadership of the Empire going to the Queen temporarily. The nation of Kansania bordered Coricove, and for years there had been arguing among the leaders over the disputed border. On July 8, 1801, R.E.M. officers were crossing through a patch of land claimed to be their own, when they were shot and killed by Kansanian troops after being accused of trespassing on Kansania territory. This infuriated the Queen and she sent R.E.M. troops into Kansania. July 15, 1801 marked the bloodiest day in this history of The Reineberg Empire. A battle raged in the fields of Calvino, between R.E.M. troops and Kansanian soldiers, and by the end of the day almost 250,000 military personnel from each side were dead (118,000 from The Reineberg Empire and 131,000 from Kansania). Despite severe losses, the R.E.M. troops pushed on, and in the autumn of that year had finally won the war. With the loss, Kansania was forfeited over to The Reineberg Empire, where it was later split up into three seperate nations; the Republics of Hobbeston, Van Fargo, and Jarretaria.
Likiberg and Reinetopia
By this time, The Reineberg Empire now consisted of six individual nations, and the population had climed into the 30 millions by the year 1810. The Queen had passed away by the late 1810's, and leadership of the Empire was passed down to the Prince, Damon Reiner II. With the threat of another potential war, this time against enemy regions to the north, defensive actions needed to be taken. Emperor Damon Reiner II sought the assistance of the ally nation of Likiberg, but the situation never escalated into a full-scale war. However, Likiberg showed a great interest in joining The Reineberg Empire, and on June 17, 1819, the country was divided up into two seperate nations, and Likiberg and Reinetopia officially entered into the Empire. Reinetopia would go on to become known as the "peacekeeper" of The Reineberg Empire, and also serve as the UN Delegate for the region.
Completion of the Empire
The mid to late 1800's were a prosperous and productive time for The Reineberg Empire; the economy was thriving, citizens were happy, wars were being won, and great political and social inroads were made. The Empire was starting to attract the attention of Kendingston, a rich and beautiful nation which lay to the south. The leader of Kendingston met with the Emperor at the time, Sir Thomas Reiner I, and after months of long and tedious negotiations, Kendingston was admitted into The Reineberg Empire on July 20, 1876.
Almost a decade later, in the year 1885, the Ameregel Genocide was taking place in the nation, which was located just outside of The Reineberg Empire. Hundreds of Ameregellians were being slaughtered each day by the corrupt dictator, Antonio Chavez, and his equally corrupt military. The situation had soon become an international tragedy, and The Reineberg Empire expressed a great deal of concern for the innocent victims of the genocide. The R.E.M. stepped in, and on April 15, 1885, took control of the country after executing Chavez and wiping out the military. A new government, hand-picked by the Emperor himself, was installed, and Ameregel would eventually become the last country to officially join The Reineberg Empire, on Christmas Day of 1885.
Politics
Government System
The Reineberg Empire is ruled by the Emperor with absolute authority (who is also the leader of the Kingdom of Reineberg), with his wife, the Queen (the leader of the Queendom of Coricove), as second-in-command should anything happen to the Emperor. Just below the Queen is the Grand Duke (leader of the Grand Duchy of Emborch), although the only situation in which the Grand Duke would take leadership of the Empire is if the King or Queen had no direct heirs to the throne. However,t his has never happened in the history of The Reineberg Empire.
Memorable Emperors
Sir Damon Reiner I
(1779-1801) Co-founder of The Reineberg Empire (which he named after himself) and victor in the New Clear War, responsible for laying down most of the laws and regulations found within the Reineberg Doctrine. Brought the nation of Coricove into the Empire, and together with Queen Muprhia, started the bloodline of the Royal Family. Also responsible for the creation of the Reineberg Empirical Army and the raising of many of the initial troops. Reineberg's first official Emperor, with the island on which the Empire is situated being named in his honor (Damonicas Island).
Queen Lynnette Murphia
(1801-1817) Second official leader of The Reineberg Empire, and the only female in history to ever hold that position. Led the Empire to a victory over Kansania in the Great Calvino War, resulting in the acquisition of the nations of Hobbeston, Van Fargo, and Jarretaria into the Empire. Pushed for more equal feminine rights and freedoms during her stay as leader, and is viewed as one of the most influential women in all of the Empire's history. The Queendom of Coricove is named in her honor, as well as the city of New Murphia.
Sir Thomas Reiner II
(1862-1909) The longest serving Emperor in The Reineberg Empire's history, he led the Empire through great economic times, raised citizen morale, improved human rights and led the R.E.M. to finally put an end to the Ameregel Genocide. Under his leadership, Ameregel was officially entered into the Empire, and a memorial statue of him was erected in Braxton City Park, in the capital of Ameregel in honor of him saving thousands of Ameregellians from potentially being murdered by their corrupt leader. Considered one of the greatest leaders in the Empire's history.
Reineberg Empirical Military
Formed by Sir Damon Reiner I, the R.E.M. saw it's beginnings in the 18th century, and have continued to grow into an extremely powerful military force. To this day, the number of soldiers number in the millions, with mandatory enlistment in many nations of The Reineberg Empire. The current Major General of the R.E.M. is Gunther Krauser, who has spent 50 years with the R.E.M., with his start as a front-line private in 1957. Billions of government funds go into training the R.E.M. troops and providing them with the best possible weaponry and equipment. Military power is a large factor of the Empire, and has been since its creation. The R.E.M. has not officially lost a war since 1923, in the War of New Haven. Currently, the R.E.M. is one of the most powerful militaries in the area.
Geography
The Reineberg Empire is situated solitary on an island just off the mainland, and because of The Reineberg Empire's massive land area (13,995,800 sq. km), it consists of many different variations of land type. With lush forest area in the northern nations of Hobbeston, Coricove, Reineberg, Emborch, and Likiberg, to an odd and unexplainable area of desert in southern Coricove and parts of Van Fargo. A mountain range runs along the border of Jarretaria and Ameregel, as well as the border of Coricove, Van Fargo, and the southern point of Hobbeston. Forests also once covered most of Reinetopia, although these are being bulldozed at an alarming rate to make way for the growing population. The nations of Kendingston and Ameregel are home to tropical vegetation in the southern most regions, and forest and flatlands in the northern regions. Both nations have done an excellent job in preserving their natural beauty.
The whole of The Reineberg Empire experiences moderate to heavy rainfalls through the course of the year, with the exception of the deserts in Coricove, and also experiences heavy downfalls of snow in the winter in the northern countries. The temperatures range from cold to moderately hot in the north, cool to very hot in the south, and hot to extremely hot in the deserts. Most of the area of The Reineberg Empire is temperate, excluding the deserts and the tropical regions in the southernmost areas. Natural disasters have been known to occur from time to time, but very rarely.
Demographics
As of the 2005 Empirical census, the population of The Reineberg Empire is approximately 3.6 Billion, and the population growth rate is 1.07%. As of 2006, 78% of citizens are native to the Empire, while 22% are immigrants. 82% of the population is white caucasian, 8% are of Asian decent, 6% are Latin American, and 4% are African American. Despite the Empire's many attempts to attract many different ethnic groups, it still remains a predominantly white region.
Language
The official language of The Reineberg Empire is English, established in the Reineberg Doctrine, which is spoken by 99% of the population. Most of the population are bilingual and even trilingual, and French (spoken by 34% of the population) and German (spoken by 22% of the population) are the next most common languages spoken. Despite the number of people who speak other languages, no signs or advertisements in the Empire appear in any language other than English. A variant of English, native to the Empire, is spoken by a large percentage of the population as well. However, this language does not stray far from the standard English language, and is there for not considered an official language.
Religion
With the creation of the Reineberg Doctrine in 1779, the Church of Reineberg was established as the official Religion of the Empire, and the only acceptable Religion to be practised. The following and practise of any Religion, besides the official Religion, is punishable by imprisonment. However, the population is not forced to practise this Religion, and as many as 57% of the population consider themselves to be atheist (as of a 2006 survey conducted by the Church of Reineberg). Over the years, the attendance of the Church of Reineberg has been steadily decreasing, partly due to a lack of government funding.

Sporting Associations
Reineberg Hockey League
The RHL is the Empire's professional hockey league, with seasons spanning 85 games. It was founded in 1975, initially with only ten hockey teams in total (one from each nation in The Reineberg Empire). The original ten hockey teams were the Reineberg Red Hawks, Fenrowe Falcons, Saffaron Spartans, Stockwood Saints, Marlinia Marauders, Walltree Warriors, Trentshire Tigers , Redfield Rockets, and the Harbourne Hammerheads. In the late 1980's and early 1990's, the league expanded to 30 teams (three from each nation) and was divided up into six divisions consisting of five teams each. The victor of the playoffs is awarded the King's Cup. The most recent winners of the King's Cup were the Braxton Bears, who defeated the Stockwood Saints in five games.
Reineberg Automotive Competitive Events
RACE is the professional competition of NASCAR-regulated stock cars, for competition on various tracks all throughout The Reineberg Empire. It was founded in March of 1981, starting off with only a 15-race season. Currently, there are 20 race tracks in all of the Empire, with Reineberg Superspeedway and Oceanview International Speedway being the two most prestigious races on the schedule. RACE is one of the most popular sporting associations in all of the Empire, drawing hundreds of thousand of fans at each event. The most recent RACE Champion is Dale Goodyear, who won by a commanding 254 point margin, the largest in RACE history.
Reineberg Official Soccer Association
ROSA consists of 20 soccer clubs (or football clubs) playing at the professional level, two from each Empire nation and split into two conferences. It is one of The Reineberg Empire's newest sports associations, but is already among the most popular. The season spans 30 games, with the tope three teams from each conference making the playoffs. The next two teams with the best records (regardless of conference) make the playoffs as well. The victor of the playoffs win the ROSA Cup, with the most recent winner being Yorkdale FC. ROSA stadiums are often humorously referred to as "ROSA Parks".
