The Rethast Origins

The country of Rethan was once occupied by nothing but humans. There was no caste system, and everyone was equal. However, when the Lentar family came to power, a new era dawned. In order to become a strong nation, vast 'Birthing Centers' were built. Children born of strong parents were taken to these places and genetically altered to become the new Master Race of Rethan. The Rethast. Eventually the entire Lentar family undrwent the procedure and humankind in Rethan was enslaved.

The Rethast now use the humans as an enslaved workforce, and every year, between 100 and 200 of the fittest human children are taken to the birthin centers.

Notable Propeties of the Rethast

Sight

Rethast sight was, for the first few mutant generations, very poor. But now their eyesight is even better than a human, although it requires constant application of certain chemicals, forcing Rethast to wear protective goggles or masks.

Strength

Rethast are far stronger physically than humans. Able to lift massive weights far exceding a human, Rethast are also tougher. Due to the increased density and toughness of their muscles, Rethast can withstand wounds which would kill a human, even to the point of taking a bullet to the chest and still remain standing.

Build

Rethast also stand taller than most humans, with the average 20 year old male reaching six and a half feet with ease. In addition, Rethast are far stockier than humans, which when combined with their height makes them appear gigantic, easily dwarfing a human.

Air

Rethast can only breath air that has been contaminated with an artificially created gas called Oxybrine. This is the purpose of their masks. They can survive for short periods without Oxybrine, the record being 72 hours. Without Oxybrine, their lungs begin to corrode as though breathing in acid. The effects of Oxybrine are what gave the Lentars the idea for the Rethast, as it causes muscle build to increase and stamina almost double. It does, however, kill 98% of the time, and so humans undergoing the mutation process are constantly pumped with Amino Acids to keep them alive. With the Birthing Centers, the death rate is 0.2%.

Appearance

Rethast are,as mentioned before, taller and of larger build than humans. There is also other characteristics to distinguish them.

Rethast all have white, almost silvery, hair which never grows longer then about one or two inches or are bald. Their eyes appear cloudy, and have no colour. Their skin is pale white making them appear sickly and malnourished.

Halfbreeds

Halfbreeds are the same as Purebreeds in almost every way, but occasionally (76% of the time) exhibit differences. These include:

• Coloured or long hair growth
• Skin which is not sickly or pale
• Eyes with colour, or that are not 'cloudy'
• Lesser build
• Decreased need for Oxybrine
• Decreased need for eye protection.
