Rheya von Tesse is the Governor of Azreana, the newest province of Morindira. Azreana is comprised of the southern half of the former Sultanate of Azraeon. von Tesse is a native of Azraeon and a former Shaman leader.
Early Life and Education
von Tesse was born in Garahvyn, Shalin, a moderately-sized fishing village on the seacoast of former Azraeon. Her mother was a primary school educator and her father was the village Shaman leader. When von Tesse was 15 she left the traditional secondary school education and studied Shamanistic ritual and governance under her father's tutelage. When she was 23, her father died in a boating accident and she was elected Shaman leader of the village. During her time as Shaman leader, von Tesse implemented many important improvements to the local school curriculum and increased tourism in Garahvyn.
Rebellion and Occupation
In 2006, anarchistic rebels brought down the reign of Azraeonian Sultan Jhereme Blackburn. During the short three-month reign of anarchy, von Tesse lived in hiding with government-loyal Azraeonians. She drafted and smuggled out letters of appeal to many of the militaristically strong nations of Gemini Exterro. Of the many letters that were sent out, Greater Tomania and Morindira were the only two nations that replied with force. Azraeon was occupied and eventually split in half between the two nations. During the Morindiran occupation of the southern half, von Tesse became an intermediary between the Azraeonian natives and the Morindiran occupants. She worked with the Morindiran government to ease the governmental transition and was appointed as Governor of Azreana for her efforts.
Critizism
von Tesse is sometimes critizied or even denounced by her people as a traitor for her acceptance of Morindiran rule. Most of the populace, however, recognizes that von Tesse's efforts helped bring stability and prosperity to their people under Morindiran rule, while still helping them keep some of their unique cultural identity.
