History

In ages long since past, there was a great nation known as Ralchesis. It flourished for centuries, but eventually became a commonwealth of a larger empire. In time, its history was forgotten in all but the native folklore, in stories of a bygone greatness that would one day be restored when their Goddess Queen returned.

Ages past, and people stopped believing, until modern day, when a metahuman from another country came, of all things, as a tourist. This young woman, Star Peacefire, did not believe she was anything close to a goddess, and was, in fact, a very devout Christian, but at the pleading of the people, who found her to look uncannily like the queen from their folklore, agreed to at least help arbitrate their separation from the country they had so long been a part of.

It was an incredible struggle of negotiations and pleadings to committees, factions and governments, but eventually, the nation of New Ralchesis was established and accepted with generally good graces. Once founded, the people begged her to stay on as their ruler. Not wanting to put the people under a single thumb, she decided to have a constitution election, thinking that perhaps the people would go for a government that they ran, themselves. Instead, she was elected by a landslide as the first monarch of the Queendom of New Ralchesis.

Geographically, New Ralchesis was highly isolated, surrounded by mountains, but the valley land, itself, was extremely fertile, and the mountains were rich with mineral deposits. This provided much of the fledgling nation's income, but also made it a prime target for those who would put that natural wealth to their own uses. The nation, however, while possessing many brave souls who eagerly enlisted as volunteer militia, had no actual military, leaving it practically defenseless, its ancient guardians the mountains all but useless against modern airborne weaponry. Thus, Star, who thought she could put her own wartime days behind her and focus on the nation, found herself standing on front lines once more. Compared to her own unnatural powers, the attack of their aggressor fell before it could reach the capital's gates, mighty tanks falling under her fists and sophisticated jets unable to keep up with her airspeed. Even the hail of missiles that the enemy attempted to rain down against them fell as empty threats against her barriers.

Unfortunately, waging a one-woman war was tiresome. She could only be in one place at a time, so still, damage came upon the country. Though she, and in turn, New Ralchesis, was victorious, she knew she could not continue to wage such battles indefinitely. While she does not want to do so, she has begun considering military development for her people, at the very least in the construction of automated defense systems, but until then, she is left with fighting a nation's worth of battles on her own.
