Ruhomash Gishgashani ur Thurima is the Director of State for Allech-Atreus. He is a close confidant of the Emperor, and is very involved in the Emperor's personal affairs. His nickname in government circles is "The Unofficial Councilor," a jab comparing his closeness to the Emperor to a Grand Privy Councilor.
Despite some criticisms of his powers, Director Gishgashani is an extremely intelligent and able official. After teaching political science and administration at the Imperial University on Bibliotecos, he was offered the position of Director of State. He accepted, and has served in that capacity ever since. His leadership of the Directorate has seen a growth in Imperial economic power, as well as increased diplomatic connection.
He was ennobled as the Marquis of Thurima by the Emperor 10 years after he began serving.
Trivia
Gishgashani is a rare last name among Atraxians. It is one of the few purely Gishan names remaining in Atraxia, dating back to the Gishan Empire. The word originated as an honorific title given to temple guards on Gish itself- Gishagashan, or roughly translated as "Protector of the God-house." It morphed into Gishgashani, which has a similar but slighlty different meaning: "Home of the Gods defender," meaning one who defends Gish, the "Home of the gods."
Ruhomash, another Gishan name, is more common. The meaning is akin to the ancient Gishan title of "Ruhamashar," "Lord of Justice."
Ruhomash Gishgashani can trace his heritage, through etymology, back to the Gishan Empire and a famed temple guard by the name of Chithagishan-Zahra-Gishagashan. It is possible, though, that his family may be related to the Gishan Emperor Ruhamashar II, who was titled "Samnarak Gishgashani."
