History:
The Rushana was created by public referendum shortly after the formation of the Free Republic itself. This was in response to a desire to have a "home grown" currency, rather than use the NS Dollar. The Lamonian government created a Printing and Engraving Division, which produced the Rushanna in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 for general public use. Higher denominations can only be used for government financial affairs, and their use is strictly regulated by Lamonian Law.
The Kaji (ķ) is to the Rushanna, what the Cent is to the RL US Dollar. One hundred Kaji make up one Rushanna; and the Kaji is minted as 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 Kaji coins.
The Rushanna and Kaji are the official currency unit of the Free Republic, and are to be used for all debts, public and private.
Denominations:
The Rushanna still has the denominations of:
- 1: Red
- 5: Yellow
- 10: Blue
- 20: Green
- 50: Purple
- 100: Copper
- 500: Silver
- 1,000: Gold
The first three denominations have the three major colors of the Lamonian flag (Red, Yellow, Blue), while the others were decided on by vote of the Lamonian Congress. Given the fact that they are used the most in transactions, the one, five, and ten Rushanna notes are printed more often than the other denominations. The Rushanna has traditionally held an image of the Lamonian flag on the reverse, and animals on the obverse.
The Kaji is still minted in the denominations of:
- 1: Copper
- 5: Brass
- 10: Steel (The size of a RL US Dime)
- 25: Gold (The size of a RL US Quarter)
- 50: Silver (1.5 times the size of the 25 Kaji coin)
The Kaji has traditionally held an image of the Lamonian flag on the reverse, with the image of Former President Stone on the front. Around the image of Former President Stone, the words "The Free Republic of Lamoni" are printed in small lettering. Around the image of the Lamonian Flag is small lettering denoting the denomination of the coin (i.e. "Fifty Kaji").
Characteristics of Rushanna print
The Rushanna is printed on paper equal in quality to that of the RL US Dollar.

Anti-counterfeiting features
The Rushanna employs macroscopic text reading "Lamonian Printing and Engraving Division." Barcodes (with related security codes) are also used on the reverse. The inks used in the manufacture of the Rushanna is impossible to reproduce. Under Lamonian Law, only the Printing and Engraving Division may purchase these inks, and the ink companies must destroy the photocopied secret ink ingredient lists received from the Printing and Engraving Division after producing the required amounts of ink. Microscopic Helix patterns are also used.
