Rystal

The Imperial Capital of Rystal has been the heart of the Empire of Khallayne since the founding of the Empire by the Prophet. The true heart of the politic of Khallayne however is a 300 mile complex in the heart of Rystal called the Imperial City. The Imperial City is surrounded by giant white marble walls and is surrounded by Heaven's Square (which can hold over a million people easily, beyond the Gate of Paradise is a self-contained world of gardens, temples, and palaces which serve both as the home of the Imperial Family and their immediate relations but also as office buildings for the various government offices and as museums containing the treasures of Khallaynan History.

The city of Rystal was originally named Amberyl during the Jiao Dynasty but was renamed Pae'Mei during the Pesaro Dynasty by Emperor Theolloryn II (The Founder). During the War of the Four Thrones the city of Pae'Mei and the Imperial City was almost completly destroyed by the forces of "Symeon II". The city was rebuilt during the reign of Empress Yolanda II who renamed the city Rystal once reconstruction was complete 1389 N.E. The current title of the head of City Government is "Marquis" and unlike most other Marquis, this office is an appointment by the Emperor or Empress and is not inheritable.
