S.I.N Samantha is the mighties vessel in the Shakal fleet. It dwarfs even the Titan Class Supercarriers. At over 1800m in length and well over 200m in Beam it is among the largest warships ever built. The idea for it came up just after the Ragnarok Class was ordered constructed. After construction on the Ragnarok class began the Hood was discovered and immediatly the Shakal began to design a vessel to at absolute minimum compete with it.

Protection

The Samantha has more armor than the entire force of Shakal carriers and Battleships combined, over 13 million tons. Since the ship is so large it was divided into six seperate armored boxes.

Boxes 1-3

Armor boxes 1 through 3 have the most protection, aside from the tower and turret faces. 2900mm of armor is assigned to these sectors of the ship. The armor is made from a Nickel and Titanium alloy infused with Shakal designed Red Steel(Chemical Formula:"Fe(CTi)"). This allows it to absorb considerable kinetic shock at any temperature allowing the vessel to tranverse any sea with no worry. The Red steel is medium wieght and provides more protectio than titanium, granted the cost is much more. In total the first three armored boxes carry roughlt 6 million tons of armor weight.

Boxes 4 & 5

These boxes are on the places of the ship most likely to be hit and therefore the less armor amount is reinforced with a stron setup of watertight compartments to contail flooding or any breakhrough. The NiTi armor provides ample protection against all guns smaller than 18". Larger guns cause only minimal damage. Behind this first layer is a second hull that is around the entire ship. It contains no of armor but supplements this with the air gap helping the ship stay afloat if the hull is breached.

Box 6

Armor Box 6 is the least protected of the entire vessel. It still boasts a 2.2m of armor, easily capable of handling all shells under 16" in caliber as they exist on most Battleships and other large gun vessels. Behind this first layer hides another of 50mm Red Steel. This amount can absorb a shock impact force of a 2000kg bomb.

Decking

The plate decking of the Samantha hasa minute layer of coarse rubber on the very outside to prevent accidents. Underneath this is the main bulk of the armor plating. Just under this resides a thin layer of Borazon (BN), the hardest known compound. Beneath the Borazon layer exists a 110mm layer of Red Steel. This helps to absorb shock forces of both bombs and shell hits. After the Red Steel layer is another of simple Titanium followed by a 50mm layer of Red Steel and finally the roof of the level below.

Armament

The Samantha boasts amazing weapons. She is capable of engaging over ahundred targets all at once with teh advanced computer guidance systems. The main guns are 30" (762mm) / 70. This gives them good range and accuracy while maintaininga strong firing rate. They were designed by Wolke Industries and are also used as heavy coastal batteries and long range artillery. They have an average firing rate of 1.4 shots per minute. Each turret holds 10 of each shell type per gun. So 40 sheels per gun means that each turrets holds 160 rounds plus just under 7000 in the ammo box storage areas.

Projectiles

The main guns of the Samantha have four types of projectiles. The main and most used is the Wolke Industries HV Round. It was made to deliver maximum push to pierce heavy armor while maintaining a fair sized splash effect and damage ratio. They can knock out any vessel with under 1m of armor easily and are also capable of taking out the heavier armor of other Super Dreadnaughts, albeit with a closer range, they can just enter through 2m of armor. The reason these rounds are saved is because each is very expensive and more valuable than the basic HE rounds.

The second type of ammuntion is the Heavy Engagement round, the HE round. It weighs some 11000 kg and carriers 1800kg of expolsive power. Its sheer size and payload make it easily possible to destroy cruisers and other smaller vessels with ease. It proved useful against gground based targets also, but the AG round surpasses it in this use.

AG rounds simply stand for Anti-Groun rounds. They are only less weighty than the HE rounds at just over 10 000 kg. In the trial runs they devastated the targets with very good accuracy that compensates for the lack of heavy payload these deliver. There role is that of shore bombardment. The Samantha has never used these shells yet but they are also utilized by the Ragnarok Class Super Dreadnaughts and have proven themselves.

The final type of ammuntion used by the Samantha's main guns is the UHVF round. This is also known as the Ultra High Velocity Flak. Each shell is a capsule that is shot high in the air over either coastal positions or at low flying aircraft. It can be set to explode at diffrent altitudes and unleashes thousands of Flak bits at whatever was targeted. This is used against aircraft very rarly and proved more useful against trenched coastal defence units.
