Strategic Missile Acquisition and Retaliation Technology (SMART)

SMART is a major new joint venture between the Roudland and Kegmenistani militaries, marking another example of co-operation and co-ordination that has been common to both militaries of late. The idea behind SMART was to create a network of satellites and missile batteries (both orbital and on earth) that would be used to intercept other ballistic missiles launched against DATO nations.

It has never been tested in a combat situation, but Roudlandian-Kegmenistani mock emergencies have proved the system's worth; all of the 15 (dud) missiles launched from Kegmenistani land bases and Roudlandian Naval vessels were destroyed before they could reach their targets. It has also been reasoned that SMART could engage targets in space, supporting allied operations in orbit, though this has not been tested yet.

The system is currently being updated to use advanced capability Patriot missiles under a new scheme.
