Saevion Starblayde

Saevion Starblayde was the original Lord-Protector of Starblaydia. Unfortunately his reign was cut-short prematurely by a hunting accident. His injuries were received whilst hunting in the lush forests of Starblaydia, fatally wounded by a Lion as he went to personally dispatch it with his blade. He had already nominated his son, Tiberius, to become Lord-Protector after his death. At least, this is what Tiberius claimed. With the correct military and media backing, Tiberius was installed as the Ruler of Starblaydia.

It was Starblayde who first forged Starblaydia as a true nation, Starblaydia initially taking its very identity from the man who welded a military alliance powerful enough to control a country. By carefully bribing, assassinating, cajoling, coercing and even out-debating all his opponents of the time, Starblayde was able to weild enough power to install himself as ruler of the nation.

Even so, the Starblaydi people were not ready to just roll over and accept a King, Imperator or other such obvious dictator. Saevion cleverly used the Lord-Protector title of ancient times to show that he was of the same ilk as the semi-mythical heroes of old. Changing his surname to Starblayde also enforced this facade, as the Starblayde was a mythical sword of an ancient Starblaydi King. He commanded the most powerful forces in the land, therefore he was the only one who could protect the ordinary people from the myriad of dangers all around them. Thus Starblaydia was born.

The Saevion Cup is competed for by Ice Hockey Teams from the National Ice Hockey Incorporated League. Lord-Protector Saevion was known to be a fan of the fledgling Cherry Cup team that Starblaydia were putting together, so the Saevion Cup was the prize when the NIHL was formed, to commemorate his death. Current Champions are Gar-Hallad Thunder.
