Accent

The Saint Maria City area has a distinctive regional speech pattern called the Saint Maria dialect, alternatively known as Marianese. It is often considered to be one of the most recognizable accents within St Samuel. The classic version of this dialect is centered on middle and working class people of the city, and the influx of immigrants in recent decades has led to changes in this distinctive dialect.

One of the more notable features of this dialect is the over use of the letter "a". For instance, the city is pronounced by locals "Saint'a Maria" and many other words for example "lake'a", "toilet'a" and "street'a" are to name but a few.

Sports

Sports in Saint Maria is a way of life. Every week is packed with sporting events and not a day goes by without a large sporting event.

Football is by far the most popular sport in the city and with Saint Maria F.C. being the biggest team in the city. Saint Maria Football Club's famous 67,000 all-seater stadium, Stade de Leone, is located in the Palatina borough whilst the St Samuel international stadium, the 80,000 all seater, Park of King's is located in lower Essa Novimo.

Saint Maria has a whole host of large football clubs besides Saint Maria F.C. including South Maria City, Monte Fortunana, San Alberto and Imperial Bay Royals all in Division 1 and Los Vitoria, Domingos Lions and Issia Town all in Division 2 of the national league.

The Saint Maria Marauders represent the city in the National Hockey League, calling the Devallio Areana in the Multoro borough home. The Saint Maria City Marathon is the largest marathon in St Samuel which runs from Los Vitoria, past many of the cities greatest landmarks before finally ending in Port Avantine. The city's National Basketball Association team is the Saint Maria Red Hawks.

Many sports are associated with Saint Maria's immigrant communities, for instance Druida immigrants are popular dodgeball fans, Az-czzers immigrants who have a growing following in Kleptoball, Kleptodance, Kleptochase and Capture the Flag, Gruenberg immigrants who play Mentil, Casari immigrants who play Kandai and Triball that is popular amongst Yuunli immigrants.
