Samizdat Corporation is a literature and publishing company in Kahanistan. It specializes in the marketing of controversial literature, art, and music.

Origin

Samizdat Corporation was founded in Al-Tahrir, Kahanistan, on November 9, 1984 by Sheikh Abdul-Rahman ibn Abdul-Wahid al-Sisroti, Vladimir Borisovitch Kalininov and Dr. Barbara Jennings. Kalininov chose the name "Samizdat" (Russian: "самиздат") after the Soviet practice of covert distribution of banned literature, in support of freedom of speech. As Kahanistan has nearly unfettered freedom of speech, it was chosen as the location of the headquarters for the corporation.

Overview

Kahanistanian native literature such as On the Amestrians and their Lies and Racial Truths: Facts the Commies Don't Want You to Know, non-native texts such as the Mohammed Cartoons, the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, Mein Kampf, and other literature that most publishers would not want to be associated with found a means of production.

Samizdat Corporation, however, was never limited to racist, xenophobic, or anti-religious propaganda. The Communist Manifesto, Ain't Nobody's Business if you Do, numerous fringe political books, and music by groups banned in various countries also feature in the corporation's offerings.

Popular opinion

Samizdat Corporation is very popular in Kahanistan for its publically declared stance in support of free speech. While some criticize it as racist, defenders point out that it was founded by an Arab, a Russian of Jewish ancestry, and a black woman. Furthermore, it publishes all literature it believes a significant market exists for, regardless of content.

Controversy

Recently, a corporate cargo vessel exchanged fire with a Psychotic Psychos battlecruiser after boarders tried to seize the vessel for importing copies of the Communist Manifesto and Slayer music. While this incident improved the domestic opinion of the corporation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Margaret Delray, warned vessels of Samizdat Corporation to no longer attempt to interfere with the Psychotic Psychos ban on "immoral" literature.
