Sapphire Coast

The Democratic Republic of Sapphire Coast is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 470 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 88%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Sapphire Coast is notorious for its citizens' infidelity, elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume, and extreme political groups are outlawed. Crime is totally unknown. Sapphire Coast's national animal is the black-footed cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the noble.

History

Government

The centre of Sapphire Coast's government is located in Emileah, the capital city. Throughout history, the country's presidents have prided themselves on working closely with Sapphire Coast's citizens. For the most part, they put the people's agenda before their own, in the spirit of a true democracy.

Languages

Sapphire Coast has three official languages: Sahrilein, English, and French. Sahrilein is the country's native language, though the majority of Sapphire Coast's citizens speak English and French. For centuries, Sahrilein seemed to be dying out, but during the past two hundred years, its popularity has grown. This is mainly due to the Leinahli Movement.

Sapphire Coast's most common unofficial language is Meqilé, a dialect of Sahrilein thought to be partially influenced by the French language. It is spoken mainly in the northeastern region of the country.

In Sapphire Coast, it is custom to greet others with the common Sahrilein greeting, "Sahah i areim opei ei" ("Hello and peace to you").

Geography

This country's long and scenic coastline is a must see. Emileah, the capital, is located at the tip of the Emilean Peninsula. Sapphire Coast shares its southern border with Uzbekistan and Solomon, its northern border with Gwan Chimone, and its mountainous western border with Elphabaleah.
