Scarlet Terror

The Scarlet Terror was a campaign of mass arrests, deportations, and executions targeted against revolutionaries in Morindira during the November Fifth Uprising. It was initiated and conducted by the M'Chaia Party as retribution for the simultaneous unsuccessful assassination of Madame Director Rienne Y'ssain, and violent takeover of a M'Chaia Party building and assassination of M'Chaia loyal hostages in November of 2006.

The fact that these two events happened at the same time strongly suggested that they had been coordinated by some larger revolutionary organization, perhaps affiliated with the rumored Silver Movement. As such, the M'Chaia Party began to fear that more assassination attempts - and perhaps various acts of sabotage - were soon to follow. Therefore, they decided to respond with overwhelming force, both as retribution for the events of November 5th and as a deterrent for any similar future attempts. The first official announcement, published in Krazn Gazeta, "Appeal to the Working Class" on December 3, 2006 called for the workers to "crush the hydra of revolution with massive terror". This was followed by the decree "On Scarlet Terror", issued December 5, 2006 by the Zsona. Casualties in early 2007 exceeded 10,000.
