Secretary of the Treasury of the United States of Laneria

The Secretary of the Treasury of the United States of Laneria, generally known within the Commonwealth of Peoples and its sphere of influence as the United States Secretary of the Treasury, is the head of the United States Department of the Treasury. His position within the Lanerian government is analogous to that of the finance minister in many other nations. The Secretary of the Treasury also oversees the law enforcement agencies attached to the Department, including the Lanerian Customs Service and the Lanerian Secret Service. He is a member of the President's Cabinet.

The Secretary of the Treasury is the principle economic advisor to the President, a position which involves formulating and recommending fiscal policies and policies on taxation and trade as well as policies for the management of the national debt. As the Chief Financial Officer of the Government, the Secretary also serves as Laneria's representative to the Commonwealth Economic Council and as the trustee of all federal government trust funds. The Secretary's signature is required on all currency issued in Laneria for it to be legitimate. This requirement has not been changed as a result of the adoption of the Commonwealth dollar.
