Flag Description - The red cross in the top left hand corner, known worldwide as a symbol of non-violence, represents the long-time peace and tranquility practiced by the Kingdom in both its politics and its society. The two stripes of red and gold along the left margin represent the colours of the Royal family. The white upper half of the flag represents peace and purity, whilst the green lower half represents the nation. The crown adorning the upper half of the flag over the green land represents the Royal Family's rule above the nation.

History of Serenity State - Serenity State has a long history in Europe, formed from turbulence and war and moving into peace and tranquility. Originally Belgium, Serenity State was once occupied by the Kingdom of the Netherlands before it seceeded in 1830.

The Kingdom suffered invasion and occupation by Germany during the First and Second World Wars. Despite widespread persecution of the population, the nation did benefit from rapid industrialisation as the German war machine sought to gain supply bases for weaponry in Western Europe.

In 1945, Germany was destroyed and the Royal family came out of exile in Great Britain. The spread of Communism across Europe from the growth of the original Union of Soviet Socialist Republics sparked widespread unrest in Belgium as the population began to question rule by the Royal family. In late 1946, the Royal family recognised that some urgent changes to the governing of the nation was needed if they were to survive the widespread revolutions of the time.

In 1947, Belgium officially became the Kingdom of Serenity State. The Constitution of the Kingdom was released later that year, setting out explicit rights available to the populace, including widespread increase towards democratic representation through the adoption of a largely parliamentary system of state management. Also, the Constitution set out a citizen's right to refuse to serve in any armed force, civil or military, as befitted the large pacifist movement in the nation, whilst pleasing the right wing by maintaining that the populace could own a range of firearms for self defence and protection against oppression from the state.

Political System - Largely a Parliamentary Democracy; the populace is represented by a Representative of the People (RP) in the Chamber of Representatives, where laws are ammended and questions put forward to the government body. Management of the state and creation of Laws is done by the Cabinet, made up of several Ministers of the Crown. Chairing the Cabinet is the current ruling Royal.

Military Size - None; the Kingdom of Serenity State has no standing armed forces, allowing increased expenditure on improving the nation. *NB - The Royal Guard, the protection service of the Royal Family, is the only standing military unit. It numbers a division of 10,000 men and 100 'Leclerc' tanks.

Society - Largely a pacifist society, the majority of people agree with the government's concentration away from fighting forces towards internal development of the nation and it's people.

Economy - The nation largely relies on agricultural and industrial production. Agricultural products make up 30 percent of the GDP, whilst industry makes up 40 percent and Tertiary sector development another 30 percent.
