Overview
The Serpent class was the first of Bryn Shander's second generation space warships, replacing the rather unimpressive Jicco class assault boat. The class was designed for wolfpack style attacks, patrols, and police work. Though lightly armed and technically simple, the ships of the Serpent class packed a fair amount of firepower thanks to the four 1200mm torpedo tubes and the 300MT torpedoes that they carried.
In addition, the ships were upgraded several times throughout their service life, keeping them potent from the day that the first ship was commissioned to the day that they began to be replaced with the new Kusanagi class frigates. Even as Kusanagis enter service, many Serpents are expected to be retained for police use.
1592 Serpent class frigates were produced over the life of the design.
