Sheffield is a mining city situated on the far Eastern border of the Djel River valley, the one-time border between Dyelli Beybi and Fasta Benj. Sheffield is a largely industrial city and is not regarded as a particularly pleasant place to live. It is famous for its steel goods, and a great deal of Dyelli Beybian arms manufacturing occurs in the city. Sheffield is also situated on the main Northern road across the hills between East Benjia and the Djel River Valley, making it a major stopover point for long distance truck drivers.

The Battle of Sheffield

Sheffield was the first major battle of the Dyelli Beybian Civil War.

In the week before the battle, two armoured divisions commanded by General Pickelheimer had advanced from the Socialist held city of Bath, taking first Welles (where one Division remained in garrison) then Sheffield without meeting any resistance.

However, numerically superior forces under General Duma were advancing from Fasta Benj. Pickelheimer's troops were caught more or less unawares, not truly expecting an invasion from Fasta Benj, and at dawn, Duma struck, sending in the bulk of his helicopters to destroy the smaller Dyellian force.

However, Duma had failed to take into account Pickelheimer's strong batteries of AA fire which destroyed nearly 300 helicopters, while less than 100 Dyellian vehicles were destroyed. Had Duma lauched an attack with his ground forces the results would almost definantely have been different. As it was, Duma decided to fortify his position to the East of the city and bombard it. Pickelheimer took this as the opportunity to retreat, and his Division escaped the city intact.

While Sheffield was a victory to the Tzarist forces, Duma's impetuous and aggresive nature was exposed. Duma's crack troops would later be smashed at Bath in a similar impetuous attack.
