The Sicarius missile was designed by the Democratic Soviet Republic of Kahanistan to enable attacks on distant enemy forces without endangering civilians, even if the enemy was fortified in a large city and naval, air, or ground forces were unable to reach them.

The missile can be fitted with various types of warheads, including conventional explosive, fuel-air, nuclear, chemical or even biological warheads (though Kahanistanian policy is not to use WMD in areas with civilian populations, or biological weapons at all) and is intended to be used in a second-strike capacity against a far superior enemy force.

Its subsonic nature slows it down significantly, but prevents it from making detectable sonic booms. As the missile normally flies at 400 meters, it can underfly most detection systems, striking enemy forces without warning. As such, it is suited towards assassinations, but most assassination targets it might be used against would be in a bunker before going to war against Kahanistan, and the Sicarius is not powerful enough to be used as a bunker buster.

The name originates from the Jewish Sicarii, the ancient forerunners of the Israeli Mossad, who fought against the Roman imperialists. As one familiar with Kahanistanian history might suspect, it was originally planned for use against the Romanesque Doomingslandians who were among Kahanistan's most feared and hated enemies. As the name implies, it is a stealthy missile designed for targeted attacks.
