The Silver Movement, whose military arm is known as the Silver Army or Silver Guard and whose members are known as Silvans, comprise some of the Morindiran forces, both political and military, which oppose the M'Chaia Party.

Structure and Ideaology

The designation Silver has several interpretations. First, it stands in contradistinction to the Red and Black of the Morindiran flag. Second, the word "silver" had monarchist associations: historically each Morindiran king was solemnly called the silver tsar.

Strictly speaking, no monolithic "Silver Army" has ever existed; lacking central coordination, the Silver forces have never been more than a loose confederation of revolutionary forces. The group is loosely led by native Malialander Saden Daeth and his officers. The officers who make up the core of the Silver Army mostly uphold monarchist ideals, and the Silver Army as a whole generally believes in a united multinational Morindira.

The Silver Army also draws support from other political movements, including democrats, social revolutionaries, and others who oppose the M'Chaia Party; at other times and in other places, however, the same groups supported the M'Chaia Party instead.

The rank-and-file troops of the Silver Army included both active opponents of the M'Chaia Party and spanned a variety of volunteers and conscripts, from decendants of nobles to low-class citizens.
