Etiquette for a Pair

The Fodian Culture has a strict and rigid set of traditions which are always to be upheld. Most of the cultural quirks can be displayed in a conversation with a Fodian. Let's follow a conversation between two complete strangers, John and Jane, who meet at the generic party.

The Greeting

We have John and Jane, both standing in a room. John approaches Jane, and they both smile and nod. Jane will then tilt her head back, and spit at Johns feet, following that with the standard "Salve." John, will smile, and bow his head respectfully. Then he would take Jane in his arms and kiss her as deeply as one would their true love in "America." He would take a step back, and greet her with the standard "Salve." Usually it is the woman, or the shorter of the pair, whom spits at the others feet. Usually it is the man, or the taller of the pair, whom initiates the kiss.

The Introduction

Jane would stroke Johns cheek, and introduce herself as "Jane." Although her full name is Jane Jay Kay. It is common practice to address anyone by their first name, and first name only. The second name is their family name, which would be used to address their most direct roots, used only in weddings, funerals, and government certificates. The last name is a pet name, something only them and their love would know, and call on each other by. John, would then introduce himself as "John." First name used only for exact reasons outlined above.

The Conversation

And so they would carry out their conversation. Fodian's use not only spoken language, but body language as well. Flurrying movement with the hands, shifting of weight in leaning, and much contact between the two speaking. Ranging from pats on the arm to a kiss on the forehead, Fodian's are physical. Even when speaking in sign language, you must watch out for them.

The Conclusion

So John and Jane would nod politely. Both would spit at each others feet this time, and kiss once more. Note that even paired with a Jane Jane, or John John, these customs are followed exactly. They nod once more, and end with the standard "Vale," ending their chat. Usually if the chat had not gone over too well, instead of kissing a slap would be exchanged. The greeting though, will always begin with a kiss.
