Background

California's Birth As An Independent Nation (1541-1848)

In the early 1520's the Spanish discovered the Pacific Coast of North America, sailing northwest along the coastline they came to a fertile valley and named it the San Fernando Valley, from 1521-23 the Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo explored the southern coastline from the tip of the Californian peninsula in the south to what is now Puget Sound in Washington, naming the area "California from a fabled island in the romance novel by Ordones de Montalvo (Madrid, 1510) entitled Las Sergus de Esplandian (The Exploits of the Very Valiant Knight, Esplandian).

After mapping the locations down as they sailed further north. Within years the Spanish had sailed far enough to meet the Russians who controlled the area north of roughly the 54'40°N line, within years the Russians and Spanish had signed treaties and began trading between one another. After returning to California, Cabrillo had ventured inland and discovered verious indigenous peoples living in the area wearing gold jewelry and cut stones. After settling a small mission on the site of present day Santa Barbara, Cabrillo and his men began mining the mountains in and around the San Gabriel Mountains discovering gold, diamonds, and other valuable gems.

By 1533 the Republic of California was one of the largest nations in North America competing with the French to the east and the Spanish in the south, in the year 1535 Spain declared war on California and fought a war for five years trying to capture and annex California in an ill-fated war before signing the Treaty of Hermosillo signed in 1540 in which the Spanish ceded the provinces of Old California (now called Baja California), Sonora & Sinaloa, New Mexico (the territory from which the states of California, Nevada, Utah, part of Colorado, part of Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico were created) and Chihuahua. By the Treaty of Hermosillo the Spanish had to withdraw all of its forces and pay $70 million in war reparations to California, Spain crippled by its defeat in the Californian-Spanish War and the loss of its northern provinces, withdrew from Californian land and retreated south into New Spain (now Mexico).

On August 19, 1541 California declared its soverignty as a nation establishing its capital as El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora Reina de Los Ángeles de la Porciuncula meaning "The Town of Our Lady Queen of the Angels of the Small Portion" (which was later shortened to Los Angeles) near the San Gabriel Mission. Within five years of the Californian-Spanish War, California had become one of the dominant powers on the North American continent with New Spain (Mexico) to its south, French Louisiana and the United States of America to its east, and the Russian Empire to the north. After opening trade routes to Japan, Russia and China the Californian Republic saw an unprecedented period of growth from 1547 to 1670 known by Californians as the Age of Prosperity, by 1671 California was again at war with Spain which lasted for twelve years in what was called the Second Californian-Spanish War. After defeating Spain for a second time in 1683 the Spanish were reluctant to attack California again, securing $147 million in war reparations from Spain which was used to create a military, California was able to achieve seventy-nine peaceful years passed before the Californian Republic was brought to war with Great Britain and France in 1762. On September 18, 1762 a conflict erupted between California and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and France... Louis XV of France angered that California was 'spilling over' into French Louisiana tried negotiating with the Californian President Russel N. Andrews for the sale of Louisiana to California, President Andrews was not pleased with the deal and rejected the offer. King George III of Great Britain feared Californian expansion into Oregon Country which they had been fighting Russia for control over sporadically offered to split Oregon at the 45°N, negotiations went on for hours before President Andrews lost his patience and walked out on King George III. After having been disrespected by President Andrews, Great Britain declared war on Calfiornia followed shortly by a declaration of war from Louis XV of France. By 1793 the Californian Republic had won the Californian-British & French war and defeated Britain and France with heavy losses to become one of the most powerful and respected countries in the Western Hemisphere.

California's Annexation As An American State (1848-1999)

California's Re-birth As A Superpower (1999-2XXX)

The nation now known as the Californian Sovereign Democratic-Socialist Federation was officially founded on November 19, 1999 by the Democratic-Socialist Party of California after several disputes with the state of California and the United States government lead to the Democratic-Socialist Party's falling out with the Republican dominated government on political ideals and the future of California ultimately causing California to declare its independence from the United States creating the Democratic People's Republic of California in December of 1999 the five states of Alaska, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii seceded and joined the Californian Union. In the months before the U.S. Presidential Elections in 2000 the states of New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho and Colorado joined California's union to make a total of ten states.

After setting up the Parliament, three prominent parties (Democratic-Socialist, Federative, and Republican) rose to fill the seats of the Parliament, and after elections took place the Democratic-Socialist Party of California took an astounding 337 seats becoming the main influence of Californian politics.

Afterwards the United States sent diplomats into California which by the year 2009 the Californian Union was composed of California, Alaska, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming and a treaty was established declaring California a nation seperate from that of the United States. Shortly after the Los Angeles-St. Louis Treaty was signed President Gill M. Freidman left office and was replaced by the new elected president Jared W. Benson, who supported the United States's opinion of keeping peace with the Rep. of California and opening diplomatic relations. During this time the relations betwen California and the rest of the world grew and nations began forming trade coalitions and the such with California. President Benson served two terms as U.S. President and was replaced by the next elected president former Mississippi Senator David G. Maddox.

Shortly after his inauguration, U.S. Pres. Maddox amended the twenty-second amendment of the United States Constitution with the fifty-first stating "As long as the popular vote is in favor of the elected president, s/he may remain in power until the popular vote is swayed to another presidential candidate." Later, in the middle of what would have been the second year of Maddox's term on March 15, 2010, Pres. Maddox disbanded the Congress of the United States and declared himself Lord David G. Maddox of the United States, and the United States spiraled into a dictatorship. This brazen act by the U.S. President forced several U.S. States to secede and to join the Republic of California.

Five months later on August 1, 2011 former Californian Senator Sandra M. Devnostræva was elected President, a day later Lord Maddox declared war on the Democratic People's Republic of California to try and force the nation back into the United States of America and the Second Civil War began. On August 18, 2011 after marshalling an army totalling 2,540,000 California declared war on the United States dividing the army into the Northern, Central and Southern Divisions, the Northern and Southern Divisions fanning out north to the Ohio River and south to the Gulf Coast while the Central Division spearheaded to Washington D.C.

After the Central Division surrounded Washington DC and gave the ultimatum for surrender, Lord Maddox refused the terms and on July 3, 2021 the Sovereign Californian Armed Forces struck Washington D.C. with an Electro-Magnetic Diffusion warhead. A day later Californian forces crossed the Potomac River into Washington DC, to accept Lord Maddox's surrender, a meeting was held in Arlington, Virginia with the Presidents of the Federated Republic of New York and Jersey, the Federated States of Sovereign California and the Elentári of the Eternal Noldorin Empire of Menelmacar to determine the future of the United States of America. After much deliberation the Devnostræva-Fëanor Accord was signed giving the Sovereign Federation of California (FSSC) everything west of the Devnostræva-Fëanor Line giving the Democratic People's Republic of California the states of West Montana, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana and the Canadian and Mexican Provinces captured by Californian forces during the Second Civil War. The Fed. Rep of New York and Jersey (NYNJ) acquired the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachussetts and the remaining states were organized into the Federated Menelmacari States of America (FMSA) which were occupied and administered by the Eternal Noldorin Empire of Menelmacar on July 9, 2021.

Since then the following territories have been added as states to the Californian Union: Alberta, Bahamas, Baja California, Bermuda, British Columbia, Espaniola (Hispaniola), Jamaica, San Mateo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Virgin Islands and Yukon Territory bringing the total of states within the Californian Union to thirty.

Also three dependencies have been incorporated as parts of the Californian Union: Persia (Iran), Oman, and Yemen.
