St Tom (Officialy 'The Armed Republic of St Tom') is a nation located in Random Idiots. It is espececially famous for its basket weaving industry, where the world's finest baskets are woven. All industry is strictly controlled by the government, which also keeps strict control over its citizens. St Tom's annual police spending is almost equal to that of health and education combined, and as a result, it has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Citizens are required to vote regularly. However, elections are frequently rigged by the powerful and corrupt government and so a change of government is indeed a rare occurence. St Tom's flat and barren landscape is rapidly being developed, meaning that animals native to the area are slowly declining in numbers. The Holy Turtle (the national animal of St Tom) was beleived to have been extinct from 1932-1990, but specimens were found and an extremely successful breeding program has ensured survival.
