Overview
The Starburst was at the time of its construction, the largest ship Bryn Shander had ever attempted. Since then, the battleship has only been surpassed by the Inverse class dreadnoughts and the new Myrkul class battleships that replaced them. Though armed with the same guns as the Usagi class heavy cruiser, the Starburst carried more than twice the Usagi's armament, six times the torpedoes, and four times the strike craft. As with the other ships of the Generation Two Rearmament Plan, the Starburst was created before Bryn Shander had shield and FTL technology, and was modernized several times over the life of the design.
The Starburst class took part in several major battles, including the battle over Shen-Zhou with New Haven and the defense of Mars from invading Tyranids.
Thirty six ships of the class were constructed over the life of the design.
